Position Summary

We are seeking a motivated and hardworking Mechanic Apprentice to join our fleet maintenance team. This role offers hands-on experience working with medium- and heavy-duty trucks, supporting licensed mechanics in conducting inspections, repairs, and preventive maintenance. The successful candidate will develop skills in both mechanical and electrical systems, with a focus on safe work practices and proper repair techniques.

Responsibilities

  • Perform or assist with oil changes and routine maintenance.
  • Support truck brake repairs, including drum and disc systems.
  • Assist with electrical diagnostics and minor electrical repairs.
  • Follow all health and safety procedures, including proper techniques for securing trucks and using lifting equipment.
  • Help with tire changes and repairs, including patching and balancing.
  • Assist in bearing setups and wheel seal replacements.
  • Maintain tools and equipment, ensuring workspaces are clean and organized.
  • Accurately complete maintenance records and assist with documentation.
  • Participate in on-the-job training under the supervision of licensed mechanics.

Qualifications & Specifications

  • Currently enrolled in or looking to register in a Truck and Coach Technician Apprenticeship (310T).
  • Valid G-Class license; DZ or AZ license is an asset.
  • Basic understanding of mechanical systems, including brakes, suspension, and electrical.
  • Familiarity with truck-related tools (e.g., wrenches, impact guns, tool box) is strongly preferred.
  • Physically fit and able to perform tasks in a demanding environment.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to follow instructions.
  • High attention to detail and commitment to safety.

Work Environment and Benefits

  • Competitive hourly wage ($19/hr+, based on experience).
  • Full-time hours (40-44 hours per week).
