We are currently looking to add a Senior Director, AML & ATF Compliance to our AML team. This role is located in London, Ontario and will work out of our Fullarton office location.

The Senior Director, AML & ATF Compliance, will play an integral role in the success of the Banks AML & ATF Compliance team. This role will be responsible to lead a small team, ensuring the effective execution of goals and initiatives aligned with the teams strategies and objectives. Working closely with the CAMLO, this role will leverage subject matter expertise in AML to provide recommendations on practices and policies, ensuring the Banks ongoing compliance. Additionally, the Senior Director will oversee compliance with AML regulations, record retention, and the interpretation and implementation of AML/ATF laws, regulations, guidelines, and sanctions affecting the Bank.

Primary Responsibilities include:

  • Collaborate with the CAMLO to develop and maintain an effective AML/ATF compliance program, safeguarding the Banks integrity and reducing financial crime risks.
  • Design and implement AML/ATF business plans, frameworks, and roadmaps to achieve strategic objectives.
  • Recommend and update policies and procedures to ensure regulatory compliance and address deficiencies identified through audits and reviews.
  • Oversee the implementation of new AML/ATF requirements by coordinating with internal departments.
  • Manage daily AML/ATF operations and lead the compliance team.
  • Maintain and update AML/ATF policies, procedures, and manuals.
  • Monitor and enhance compliance programs through testing, internal controls review, and gap analysis.
  • Assess financial products and services for compliance with AML/ATF regulations.
  • Research and address legal and regulatory changes related to AML/ATF/Sanctions.
  • Ensure timely and accurate regulatory reporting to OSFI and FINTRAC, supporting regulatory reviews.
  • Provide regular updates to the CAMLO on AML/ATF operations and compliance.
  • Develop and deliver AML/ATF training programs for employees and management.
  • Promote a culture of compliance, transparency, and strong internal controls.
  • Stay informed on PCMLTFA, the Bank Act, PIPEDA, and evolving regulatory requirements.
  • Assist with special projects and additional duties as assigned by the CAMLO.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree in finance, business, or a related field.
  • Law degree with a concentration in Business Law is an asset.
  • 10+ years of experience in AML compliance or related fields.
  • At least 3-5 years managing employees, either directly or indirectly.
  • Recognized professional with a certification in ACAMS (Association of Certified Anti-Money Laundering Specialists), FIS (Financial Intelligence Specialists), or ACFCS (Association of Certified Financial Crime Specialists).
  • Strong knowledge of AML regulations (e.g., PCMLTFA and its regulations) and relevant industry standards.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Deep knowledge and understanding of Compliance/AML/ATF methodologies and programs as well as regulatory risk management.
  • Knowledge and experience with OSFI and FINTRAC reporting requirements.
  • Strong knowledge and understanding of commercial and retail banking products, distribution channels, and financial, operational, and IT controls.
  • Demonstrated experience working on complex projects and in process management to inform a structured, disciplined approach that enables Compliance to meet its mandate.
  • Strong analytical and communication skills as well as excellent writing skills with experience drafting correspondence to senior management and regulators.
  • Ability to drive success in a high-performing, flexible and small team environment and the ability to work with all levels within the Bank.
  • Highly detail-oriented and the ability to work on various projects at the same time under time constraints.
  • Ability to coach/assist business units on compliance-related issues.
