POSITION SUMMARY

In this role, you will lead make-or-buy decision making, working closely with Fabrication Operations, North American Bus and Coach Sourcing, and Process Planning teams. Our goal is to optimize the in-house manufacturing capabilities of our fabrication shops while strategically leveraging external suppliers to ensure efficient production and supply chain stability. By analyzing production capacity, equipment capabilities, and long-term demand, you will help prevent bottlenecks, reduce supply risks, and align fabrication resources with business needs. Your insights will drive strategic planning for fabrication technology, equipment investment, and outsourcing decisions to support operational efficiency and long-term growth.

Requirements

WHAT YOU WILL DO:

• Lead strategic make-or-buy decisions by evaluating whether specific components should be manufactured in-house or sourced externally
• Assess fabrication shop capacity and constraints in relation to production demand, ensuring efficient utilization of resources
• Collaborate with Manufacturing Engineers to maintain and update routing manuals and define shop capabilities, ensuring workloads are balanced
• Develop long-term sourcing strategies in partnerships with Strategic Sourcing, identifying outsourcing opportunities and securing vendor partnerships
• Oversee fabrication technology planning, ensuring manufacturing equipment remains competitive, up-to-date, and aligned with production goals
• Drive Continuous improvement initiatives and lead strategic change projects to enhance

WHAT YOU NEED TO BE SUCCESSFUL:

• Background in manufacturing engineering, or supply chain management, with expertise in fabrication processes and production planning.
• Experience in make-or-buy analysis, including evaluating in-house capacity, production constraints, and strategic sourcing opportunities
• Advanced skills in Oracle and MS Excel
• Lean Six Sigma certification considered an asset
• Proven ability to lead continuous improvement initiatives, optimizing resources and streamlining manufacturing processes in a fast paced environment

This position requires more than 10% travel.
