Aggregate Design Studio is a team of designers based in Blackfalds, Alberta, specializing in innovative designs for our clients across multiple industries. Operating as a design studio under the direct supervision of registered architects, we bring creativity and precision to every project, with a strong focus on precast concrete construction.
Position Summary
As an Interior Design Technologist, you will work closely with our Interior Design Project Lead to develop 3D renderings, walkthrough videos, detailed drawings, and presentation materials for a wide range of projects.
At Aggregate Design Studio, you will be part of a fast-paced, collaborative team where precision, creativity, and cutting-edge technology come together. Working primarily with precast concrete construction, inclusive of commercial, industrial, agricultural, institutional, and multi-residential projects. Utilizing industry-leading software like Revit, SketchUp, Enscape, and supporting programs. You will work closely with a supportive, tight-knit team of professionals and play a key role in shaping the design of diverse projects.
Job Description
Translate designs from the lead Interior Designer into 3D model renderings and walkthrough videos
Draft interior specification drawings for construction
Maintain model templates
Stay up to date with latest software updates for our Interior Design team
Assist with concept development and finish selections
Develop finish, fixture, and equipment specification lists
Interpret building codes, bylaws, and space requirements to ensure compliance
Create CAD/BIM drawings from conceptual sketches
Communicate with suppliers and trades to coordinate design specifications
Coordinate project meetings to determine deliverables and deadlines as required. Liaise with project leads under their supervision
Prepare design presentations, incorporating drawings, 3D renderings, videos and VR experiences
Maintain the resource library and coordinate sample pickups from suppliers
Adhere to all company policies and procedures
Requirements
Graduate from a recognized Interior Design program
Relative programs such as Architectural Technology and Architectural Animation Technology, with an interest in Interior Design
Proficiency in AutoCAD or Revit, SketchUp, and Microsoft Office
Strong rendering skills for presentations
Knowledge of Albertas Building Codes/National Energy Codes
Being a natural self-starter with the ability to prioritize, self-schedule, meet tight deadlines and work with colleagues from various departments, market sectors, and locations
Strong organizational skills, proactive and detail oriented
Strong written and verbal communication and design fundamentals
Manage multiple concurrent initiatives and thrive in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
A high standard of professionalism and design integrity at all stages of each project
Valid Class 5 drivers license and reliable transportation
Availability Monday-Friday with occasional Saturdays
Minimum 40 hours per week; must be flexible and willing to work overtime
Local or willing to relocate to Central Alberta
Assets
An eye for Graphic Design and quality presentation work
Experience in cabinetry design or other niche design areas (signage, flooring, lighting)
Understanding of design psychology and its impact on user experience
Background in commercial, industrial, agricultural, and multi-residential design
Related experience in the construction industry
Familiarity with VR design tools (HTC Vive, Enscape)
Knowledge of precast concrete construction
