Job DescriptionPosition Summary:
The Senior Financial Analyst is responsible for assisting the fiscal year-end audit, preparation of quarterly and yearly external financial statements, supporting various ad-hoc activities and supporting the Manager of Financial Reporting. Strong organizational and communication skills are needed.
Responsibilities
- Assist with the direct implementation of IFRS, research issues with respect to specific strategies/transactions and provide alternatives and recommendations on related accounting policies and compliance. The proposed recommendations should consider the impact on the Company and business line results in order to change business behaviour and practices, if necessary. ·
- Create and maintain accounting policies and implementation guidelines as part of the Company's internal controls over financial reporting, including training of users and implications of the new policies. ·
- Interaction with other departments of the Company to communicate and establish their respective roles and responsibilities in implementing the requirements of accounting policies and standards. Review and provide recommendations on the appropriate accounting for proposed transactions that are specialized. The analysis of these transactions will normally require well-documented summaries of the relevant transaction terms, accounting alternatives, and a basis for recommendations. ·
- Assist in the preparation of external reporting documents such as the financial statements, MD&A, and other disclosure documents.
- Actively participate in the development and interpretation of new and proposed accounting standards, including disclosures in the financial statements and the MD&A. It will include responding to new accounting standards issued by IASB.
- Assist in the annual external audit including preparation of technical memos.
- All other duties as assigned.
Education and Experience
- 3+ years of experience in a Big4/6 firm leading complex audit and review engagements.
- Experience working with International Financial Reporting Standards.
- CPA designation is required for this position.
Technical Skills
- Strong proficiency with MS Office (Excel, word etc.)
- Experience with ERP Systems (preferably Business Central)
- Working knowledge of Power BI, Shareworks and other reporting platforms
