LaPrairie Works Inc.is a diversified and growing transportation specialist. We come with over 40 years of operating experience in Western Canada, and our core business areas include highway maintenance, on and off highway hauling, oilfield services, mine contracting, and site services.

We are looking to hire aCaptain to join our growing team at theShaftesbury Ferry, Alberta. We operate on a seasonal basis from May to November / December. This position is seasonal shift work.

Responsibilities:

• Responsible for looking after all the daily operations of maintaining the ferry.
• Responsible for ordering all required supplies for the ferry and site.
• Responsible for light maintenance of ferry including: inspections, lubrication and any emergency repairs to railing, pontoons and winches to ensure safe operations.
• Operate Loader and Equipment as required.
• Required to perform any site work that may be needed from time to time.
• Other duties that may be assigned.
• Actively participate in the compliance of the ISO 9001:2015 Quality Assurance System.
  

Desired skills and Experience:

• High School Diploma or equivalent
• Prior experience as a Ferry Supervisor / Captain or in a similar role is preferred.
• Must have a Class 5 drivers license at minimum
• Ability to work after-hours if required
• Good communication skills
