THE ROLE

We are partnering with a reputable Canadian law firm located in Surrey, BC. Currently, we are looking to add an additional member to their Estate Litigation team as they have a need for a Legal Assistant!

Responsibilities:

  • Provide expert legal advice and representation to clients regarding wills, estates, probate, and trust matters, with a focus on individuals eligible for Legal Aid services.
  • Draft and review wills, powers of attorney, and other estate planning documents to ensure compliance with relevant laws and meet client objectives.
  • Guide clients through the probate process, including applying for probate, preparing required documentation, and ensuring the smooth administration of the deceaseds estate.
  • Assist clients in applying for Legal Aid and represent those who meet eligibility criteria, ensuring full access to justice.
  • Provide empathetic and clear communication to clients, explaining legal processes and options, and offering regular updates on the progress of their cases.
  • Work closely with other team members, including paralegals and administrative staff, to ensure efficient case management and delivery of high-quality legal services.

Qualifications:

  • Legal Administrative Assistant Certificate from a recognized post-secondary institution.
  • At least 4 years in a similar role; experience in wills & estates is a plus.
  • Proficiency in MS Word and Outlook, with a strong grasp of Supreme Court Rules.
  • Highly detail-oriented with strong time management and multitasking skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Exercises sound judgment, maintains confidentiality, and demonstrates professionalism.
  • Thrives under pressure, able to work both independently and collaboratively.
