Job Description

How You'll Make an Impact:

  • Performs tasks involving the installation, maintenance, and repair of a diverse range of medical equipment.
  • Documenting all work performed including new equipment inspections, corrective and preventive maintenance and special requests as required. Maintaining documentation in an accurate and timely manner.
  • Assisting hospital clinical and technical staff in the proper operation and maintenance of clinical equipment.
  • Communication with users regarding status of repairs, meeting the needs of clinical departments and obtaining loaner or replacement equipment as required.
  • Acceptance testing on new clinical equipment per department policy.
  • Identify and recommend medical equipment that is obsolete, has an extensive repair history, no longer has service support from the manufacturer or has identified safety problems.
  • Providing good customer service, screening and referring calls as appropriate and providing information to staff, visitors and patients, upon request.
  • Interact daily with hospital department managers, clinical users, physicians, nurses, and clinical unit managers concerning service and user issues.
  • Maintain life support equipment as the highest priority and provide immediate response.
  • Effectively handle service emergencies.
  • Provide technical training where necessary based on individual expertise, technical support and assistance to other technologists, and supervision for other technologists and student interns.
  • Monitor incoming work orders, prioritize work based on criticality and accurately document all work in the department's CMMS database.
  • Keep accurate records of all maintenance activities performed and update CMMS database of record of service, completely and promptly.
  • Following all departmental policies and procedures.
  • Meet departmental performance indicators on a consistent basis
  • Willing to be on-call or perform afterhours work and/or projects as required.
  • Other duties as assigned
Qualifications

What You'll Need to Succeed:

  • Graduate of a Community College Biomedical Engineering Technologist program.
  • Minimum five (5) years recent experience as a Biomedical Technologist in a hospital setting.
  • Strong problem-solving, troubleshooting, communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to travel as required between all hospital sites with little notice.
  • Valid Driver's License and CBET or OACETT Certification an asset.
  • Knowledge in Operating Room/Peri-Operative Services as well as beds' repairs is preferred.
  • Knowledge of IT networks is preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to follow instructions and work with minimal supervision.
  • Demonstrated interpersonal skills, a communication and customer service skills.
  • Ability to lift heavy objects (up to 35 kg's).
  • Ability to work in fast pace environment
  • Ability to work independently or as a member of a team.
