Job Summary
The watering crew is responsible for the safe execution of watering job duties as directed by their Crew Lead and Services Coordinator within prescribed timelines. The start date of the season is weather dependent but historically begins mid April through May and then begins to wind down in August and September.
Responsibilities
- Safe execution of assigned watering contract duties
- Work diligently with their Supervisor for the timely completion of all route tasks
- Assist Supervisor in maintaining a clean, well-stocked and organized vehicle
- Report all Near Miss, Accidents and Incidents immediately to the Supervisor
- Actively communicate with their Supervisor and watering administration team (as required)
- Participate in all required safety and team meetings
- Wear required Personal Protective Equipment at all times
- Assist Supervisor in safely managing road/lane closures as required
Job Specifications Education
- Completion of Secondary school
- Post-secondary education in industry related topics an asset
Experience
- Experience driving a heavy vehicle an asset Clean Drivers Abstract required
- Class 5 drivers license or N
- Experience working in an outdoor environment an asset
- Experience in a supervisory role an asset
Knowledge Skills and Abilities
- Excellent command of the English language
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- A working knowledge of iPads is an asset
- Basic Excel skills
- Strong knowledge of navigating the City of Surrey an asset
- Excellent map reading comprehension an asset; knowledge of the City of Surrey
- Mechanical aptitude/experience with pumps or small engines an asset
- Demonstrated safe driving record
- Must be able to work on Saturdays
Physical Requirements
This role is physically demanding, requiring entering/exiting a truck frequently. Individuals must be able to sit/stand/walk/crouch for long periods of time. Additionally, the ability lift up to 50lbs is required.
Work Environment
This position is 100% outside. Individuals must be prepared to work in extreme conditions including extreme heat, cold, rain and wind. The company highly recommends the use of layers and sunscreen as required.
This role has a schedule of 4 X 10 hour shifts worked from Monday-Saturday.
