Industry: Residential and Commercial Wall Panels and Building Components Manufacturing
Prime Fab, part of Triumph North and Triumph Group, is a leading manufacturer specializing in residential and commercial wall panels and building components. We are seeking a skilled and technically proficient Intermediate to Senior Architectural Technologist to join our team.
In this role, the Architectural Technologist will be responsible for assisting with the production of design drawings, working drawings, and shop drawings for the manufacturing and installation of highly detailed panelized building systems. Proven success in a production drawing environment is essential. We particularly value experience in the residential design industry, especially with exposure to manufactured housing. Experience with commercial window walls or curtain walls will be an asset.
Key Responsibilities:
- Coordinate Design Development: Collaborate with designers, sales managers, and customer agents to coordinate the design development process.
- Working Drawings Creation: Convert approved design drawings into permit-ready working drawings.
- Shop Drawings & Bill of Materials: Translate working drawings into detailed shop drawings and generate comprehensive bills of materials.
- Cost Estimation: Prepare cost estimates at all levels through the design and manufacturing stages.
- Manufacturing Coordination: Transfer shop drawing information to the plant for programming and work closely with the manufacturing manager to ensure that fabrication meets the specified tolerances.
- Collaboration with Estimators: Partner with the lead estimator to ensure the accuracy and efficiency of plans.
- Mentorship & Training: Provide mentorship and guidance to junior technologists.
- General Design Duties: Perform other related tasks as expected in a design environment, as assigned by management.
Technical Competencies:
- Building Code Identification Number (BCIN) is required.
- Strong knowledge of Ontario (OBC) and National (NBC) Building Codes.
- Experience with residential low-rise and medium-density wood frame construction.
- Proficient in AutoCAD and/or Revit.
- Small Buildings certification is considered an asset.
Education:
- College Diploma in Architectural Technology or equivalent relevant experience.
Experience:
- Minimum 5 years of previous architectural experience.
