The successful candidate will shadow a licenced 421A Technician. This position will involve all aspects of the preventative maintenance of our heavy trucks or equipment.

Our 421A Technicians work on our extensive fleet of equipment including rollers, pavers, excavators, graders, loaders, from manufactures like, CAT, John Deere, Bomag, Volvo and Komatsu.

Job Duties:

• Perform preventative maintenance per maintenance schedules such as but not limited to:

• Fluid Changes
• Brakes
• Tires
• Lights
• Maintain safety items on vehicles/equipment to ensure requirements are met
• Provide support in the inspection, repair and adjust gasoline and diesel-powered units
• Assist in diagnosing defects in heavy duty equipment
• Perform mechanical repairs as instructed
• Operate automotive servicing equipment
• Assist in electrical and hydraulic troubleshooting and diagnostics
• Repair cooling, and lubrication systems as instructed
• Repair mechanical transmissions, drive-trains and final drives
• Test repaired equipment for proper performance
• Clean, lubricate and perform other maintenance work
• Adhere to workplace safety policies, regulations and compliances
• Communicate any unsafe conditions or accidents/injuries in a timely manner to the supervisor in order to facilitate prompt correction or reporting
• Other duties as required

Requirements:

• Acquiring 421A License
• Enrolment in college/CEGEP/vocational or technical training
• Possess a valid driver's license – G Level is preferred
• Must attend New Worker Orientation
• Must perform New and Young Worker Training
• To maintain tools in clean and working condition
• Tools are not mandatory but welcome
• Mathematics, oral and written communication skills
• Ability to work independently in a busy environment
• Able to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing
• Able to work well under pressure
• Strong attention to detail
• Able to deal with people sensitively, tactfully, diplomatically, and professionally at all time

Work Conditions

• Physical ability to lift up to 50 lbs
• May include working in inclement weather
• Safety equipment will be required, e.g., steel-toed safety boots
• Company does not provide safety boots all other safety equipment will be provided
