GENERAL SUMMARY (Describe the overall duties and responsibilities of the job):

  1. Responsible for overseeing the activities and performance of all hourly production associates within the assigned department(s).
  2. Ensure good manufacturing practices are maintained and provide quality product while maintaining a safe, clean environment.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (Duties required for successful job performance):

  1. Responsible for ensuring production schedules and deadlines are met by coordinating the work of team leaders and production associates including monitoring production flow in order to make necessary adjustments to meet all customer and production requirements and goals. 30%
  2. Facilitate the scheduling and effectiveness of all hourly production training by completing and maintaining training documentation. Responsible to ensure all production associates are trained on job operations and qualified in proper work processes. 30%
  3. Provide leadership, coaching and motivation to all team leaders and production associates by evaluating performance and completing performance reviews including providing any necessary discipline per the disciplinary procedure. Ensure consistent and fair application of company policies and rules such as conduct, safety, housekeeping, quality systems, etc. 25%
  4. Responsible for observing and supporting all safety policies and procedures by ensuring a safe work environment is provided; reporting all incidents and injuries and providing first aid as needed; and facilitating in problem investigations, countermeasures and verification. 5%
  5. Ensure safety, quality and efficiency goals are achieved by providing support to production associates and the operations department while reducing scrap, materials and waste. 5%
  6. Ensure company policies are maintained and followed by assigned staff 5%

REQUIRED EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE (These are the traditional minimum, or required, bona-fide occupational qualifications and other requirements of most people in this job).

  1. High school diploma or GED.
  2. Minimum three years in a manufacturing environment.

REQUIRED SKILLS AND ABILITIES (Those needed to perform the essential functions of the job).

  1. Effective supervisory skills (conflict management, problem resolution, performance management, coaching/counseling, etc.)
  2. Basic knowledge of supervisory law
  3. Effective interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills
  4. Effective organizational and time management skills
  5. First Aid, CPR and AED skills
  6. Understanding of basic ergonomic principles
  7. Organizational, time management, planning and prioritization skills
  8. Knowledge of problem-solving techniques
  9. Knowledge of manufacturing environment and lean manufacturing principles
  10. Basic knowledge of production scheduling and inventory systems
  11. Ability to management multiple projects and deadlines
  12. Basic knowledge of MS-Office as well as basic computer skills
  13. Knowledge of ISO 14001 and IATF 16949 requirements

REQUIRED DECISION-MAKING AND ORGANIZATION IMPACT (Describe the typical types of decisions made by employees in this job and the likely impact of those decisions on the Company).

  1. “Responsible for ensuring production schedules and deadlines are met …” – If production schedules and deadlines are not met, production will not meet demand and will not be able to make shipments which will result in loss of confidence and/or business with the customer as well as the potential of increased costs therefore affecting future business, profitability and the ability to conduct business.
  2. “Facilitate the scheduling and effectiveness of all hourly production training …” – If production associates are not properly trained, the company will tend to be less efficient, producing more scrap / waste / defects, and less able to meet customer expectations, resulting in higher costs and potential loss of sales.
  3. “Provide leadership, coaching and motivation to all team leaders and production associates …” – If associates are not motivated and successfully developed, employee morale will be poor which could result in lack of retention and successful union activity.

REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS (Indicate job titles for this job's supervisor and direct reports).

  1. This position reports directly to the Operations Manager.
  2. Direct reports include all Team Leaders, Production Associates and Part-Time Production Associates within the designated department(s).

WORKING CONDITIONS (Describe the environment within which the work is performed).

1. Production floor environment (90%), office environment (10%).

2. Infrequent travel is possible, mostly day trips.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

1. Able to travel within the manufacturing area via main aisle ways with periodic entry to tight spaces for detail equipment review.

2. Full range of motion including the ability bend, stoop and lift up to 50 lbs.

3. Requires keyboarding and computer usage.
