The Lethbridge Police Service is currently accepting applications for a full-time position as a Police Administrative Support- CPIC Technician in the Records Management Section (RMS). This position is responsible for monitoring the quality, validation and accuracy of CPIC related data entered by employees. You will ensure all possible data has been captured from the file such as verifying names, dates and places of birth, docket number, fingerprint numbers, license plates, conditions and file numbers. You will enter persons, vehicles, and property in CPIC. In addition, you will ensure alerts and flags are present or removed in RMS, maintain a diary date system in RMS, and purge CPIC as directed.

Hours: 37.5hrs weekly, Monday to Friday

Wage: $38.31 hour | 2025 rate

As a CPIC Technician, you will:

  • Ensure quality control by validating the accuracy of data entered into CPIC by other members of the Records Management Unit.
  • Enter persons, vehicle and property on CPIC.
  • Maintain Alerts and Diary Dates entered into the Niche database
  • Process Warrant recalls
  • Monitor CPIC Purge list.
  • Maintain the entries related to CPIC conditions of subject included in the Public Service area Bail Book
  • Participate in scheduled CPIC audits
  • Be responsible for prioritizing time sensitive work based on incoming information with a high level of efficiency
  • Recognize quality assurance and provide notification of errors
  • Facilitate internal and external stakeholders by handling a number of inquiries with issues ranging from basic questions to detailed information and advice
  • Provides knowledge and guidance to other staff members regarding necessary CPIC information
  • Demonstrate the ability to communicate effectively and professionally, while maintaining strict confidentiality when handling sensitive information

You will have a demonstrated ability to work well within a team environment and have excellent communication skills with both internal and external customers.

As the successful candidate you will have:

  • Previous experience in Police setting is required as would experience in the following Police specific data bases, NICHE, CPIC, and JOIN
  • High level of confidentiality, tact and diplomacy
  • Possess sound decision-making skills, flexibly and good judgement in managing their workload, and a detailed knowledge of Microsoft Office
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and sound judgement to effectively maintain relationships with stakeholders
  • High degree of organizational skills and high attention to detail
  • Strong independent working skills and the ability to plan and organized oneself in a self-directed environment
  • Strong data entry experience
  • Exceptional computer skills including Microsoft Office and the ability to learn new software systems
  • Ability to plan and organize in a self-directed environment
  • Ability to quickly align with shifting priorities to address frequent interruptions
  • Interpersonal skills to maintain working relationships with stakeholders

Completion of the CPIC Maintenance Course is an asset.

The successful candidate is required to consent to a police security clearance, which includes the voluntary completion and submission of a personal disclosure form (lifestyle questionnaire), criminal and police records check, reference checks.

  4. Security Clearance Check will be conducted (applicable to applicants outside LPS)
  5. Completion of a satisfactory police fingerprinting check (applicable to applicants outside LPS)
  6. Successful completion of a Polygraph Examination Procedure (applicable to applicants outside LPS)
  7. Reference verification of a minimum of three professional references (applicable to applicants outside LPS)
  8. A successful candidate(s) will be selected and offered the position
  9. All components of the selection process will be administered, scored, evaluated and interpreted in a fair and uniform manner
  10. Duration of the hiring process may take approximately two months

As a prospective employee it is important for you to know that LPS has two facility dogs in the workplace. LPS facility dogs are here to support our employees in positive, constructive manner. Further, LPS facility dogs support the emotional needs of victims and or witnesses through the Criminal Justice Process. A Facility Dog is directed by a professional with specialized expertise. Facility dogs frequent many areas of our building. In addition, we have police service dogs. Our police service dogs have minimal interaction with employees on site under the supervision of a trained handler.
