We are also on a bus route, with a stop just outside of the hotel, and are our complimentary shuttle also picks up our employees from the bus loop at UBCO.
What will you be doing?
Under the direction of the Food & Beverage Manager , the Assistant Food & Beverage Manager will provide daily supervision and direction of the food and beverage service staff, while interacting with guests to ensure a positive guest experience. This position assists in the development, implementation and maintenance of quality standards for the food and beverage staff.
Reporting to the Food & Beverage Manager, you are responsible for performing the following tasks to the highest standards:
- Assist with the development and maintenance of policies, procedures and quality standards with the department, utilizing a continuous improvement approach to ensure a high quality, cost effective and customer focused operation
- Create a fun, safe and exciting working environment championing H&S initiatives
- Demonstrate hands-on management approach to lead our service team
- Continuously seek ways to find new ways that will drive incremental revenue for Gulfstream while managing departmental expenses
- Ensure proper staffing levels are maintained to deliver quality service and within budgeted labor
- Give daily support and guidance to fellow service personnel as well as monitor job performance to ensure designed experience is delivered to our guests
- Coach and train employees as well as provide disciplinary action when requires
- Ensure proper record keeping, inventory and cash handling procedures are followed
- Inspect and oversee the cleanliness and maintenance of all function space, public areas, and service areas
- Hands on approach in leading the team with day-to-day operations
- Hands on involvement in creating both food & beverage menus
- Attend weekly meetings as required- Daily stand ups, Weekly leadership meetings and all meetings relating to food & beverage
- Understands Marriot and Hilton brand standards and assists with implementation
- Champion of the team training in Gulfstream- as needed, reviews, and adjusts standards and communicates this effectively to the team
- Oversees the Hampton Food & Beverage offerings including Banquets and the Hampton Breakfast Room
- Additional duties as assigned or required
- Minimum requirement of 2 years supervisor experience in a high volume, fast paced hospitality environment
- Post-secondary diploma or degree in Business or Hospitality Management is an asset
- WSET Intermediate Wine Certificate or comparable not required but considered an asset
- Ability to demonstrate organization in a fast paced environment while acting as a team player
- Must possess superior verbal and written communication
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage a large and variable workload, ensuring timely and accurate completion of assigned work
- Guest focused, outgoing, positive, friendly attitude
- Able to work flexible hours in line with guest and business needs, including weekends and holidays as required
