Huronia Transition Homes is an equity-seeking organization committed to ending all violence against all women. Through education and advocacy, we strive to create social change and provide essential services to women in our communities who have experienced violence. Athenas Sexual Assault Counselling & Advocacy Centre, a Huronia Transition Homes program, is seeking a passionate and dedicated Community Development Coordinator to join our team.
The Community Development Coordinator will integrate an intersectional feminist framework and harm reduction philosophy to enhance awareness about violence against women (VAW) and promote our agencys mission throughout Simcoe County. This full-time position (40 hours/week) is part of a bargaining unit.
Key Responsibilities:
Community Development:
Design and distribute program materials such as posters, media releases, email blasts, and social media posts.
Develop and deliver public education tools and resources.
Build relationships with media outlets and promote public awareness campaigns.
Establish partnerships with equity-seeking organizations.
Community Outreach:
Collaborate with community organizations to promote Huronia Transition Homes services.
Design and deliver workshops and information sessions.
Maintain and grow social networks.
Participate in committees/coalitions for information sharing.
Maintain a database of community resources for women.
Public Education and Advocacy:
Research and prepare media releases and promotional materials.
Organize and promote events such as Take Back the Night, International Womens Day, and December 6th Vigil.
Advocate for the organizations activities in public forums.
Program Administration:
Achieve service delivery objectives aligned with organizational policies and budget.
Record statistics, track activities, and generate reports.
Coordinate meetings, prepare agendas, and take minutes.
Provide backup support for the telephone crisis line as needed.
Team & Agency Participation:
Collaborate with team members and adhere to organizational policies.
Foster a healthy, respectful workplace environment.
Participate in training, supervision, and team meetings.
Qualifications:
Post-secondary degree in Womens Studies, Social Work, Sociology, or equivalent experience in a related field.
Demonstrated commitment to anti-racism/anti-oppression, harm reduction, and intersectional feminism.
Strong communication, presentation, and writing skills.
Proficiency in marketing, social media, and community engagement.
Experience with event coordination and public speaking.
Strong organizational and independent work skills.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
Flexibility for evening/weekend work and travel within Simcoe County (valid drivers license and reliable vehicle required).

Starting Annual Salary:$54,919.00
