- Working with adults with developmental disabilities who require intensive self-regulation, and interpersonal supports
- Foster individualized growth, promote engagement and social inclusion
- Develop and maintain therapeutic relationships and attend to the various needs of participants
- Provide a safe and supportive environment; intervene in a calm and focused manner in crisis situations while utilizing effective de-escalation and decision-making skills
- Facilitate partnerships within the community while advocating for participant needs
- Work successfully with diverse groups and demonstrate commitment to principles of equity, diversity, inclusion, and justice
- Completion of post-secondary education in Community, and/or Social Services (e.g., DSW, SSW, CYC, BSW, Social Sciences)
- Minimum two (2) years of related experience providing behaviour intervention support; knowledge of concurrent disorders and/or dual diagnoses and strategies for support case management
- Demonstrated understanding of requirements specific to the roles and responsibilities of the job
- Strong leadership, rapport-building, mentorship, advocacy, organization, communication, decision-making, and problem-solving skills, in addition to attention to detail
- Ability to work collaboratively with a team (internal and external), and independently as necessary
- Capacity to establish, implement, and maintain professional, and personal boundaries
- Multilingualism and having diverse lived experiences are considered assets
- Valid Class G (full) Driver's License with a 3-year Uncertified Driver Record (mandatory)
- Satisfactory Police Vulnerable Sector Check with Humana listed as the employer (mandatory)
- Physical Health assessment: verification of up-to-date immunizations, COVID vaccination status (2 doses), and ability to meet the physical requirements of the position (mandatory)
- Current Standard First Aid & CPR (mandatory), Level C with AED training preferred
- $25.04 - $26.60 per hour subject to bargaining; full-time positions include paid vacation time off (3 weeks vacation, wellness and float days) and a comprehensive benefits package including RRSP matching after a waiting period of three months
Schedule: Casual, Part-Time, Full-Time various scheduled shifts including evenings, weekends and public holidays; Full-Time Awake Nights overnight scheduled
