Job Summary:


The Maintenance Technician is responsible for performing general building and property maintenance to ensure that all facilities are clean, safe, and orderly. This role includes routine maintenance activities, reporting repair needs, and maintaining the grounds.

Responsibilities:

  • Complete and respond to work orders in a timely manner.
  • Monitor all areas of the premises for ongoing maintenance requirements and carry out preventative maintenance programs as directed.
  • Perform tasks such as replacing fuses, clearing drains, repairing furniture, painting, pressure washing, replacing floor and ceiling tiles, and cleaning windows and light fixtures.
  • Provide general assistance to skilled tradespersons (e.g., mechanics, electricians, carpenters, plumbers, painters).
  • Conduct regular maintenance checks to ensure all life safety, building, and support systems are functioning properly.
  • Assist with suite turnover responsibilities, including patching, painting, and replacing fixtures as needed.
  • Maintain all work areas in a clean, orderly, and safe manner; ensure proper care in the use of tools, equipment, and supplies.
  • Adhere to established policies and procedures regarding quality assurance, safety, environmental protection, and infection control.
  • Perform outdoor work, including gardening, cutting grass, and snow removal as necessary.
  • Establish and maintain communication with other departments to ensure resident needs are met.
  • Comply with Health and Safety and WHMIS requirements for Personal Protective Equipment.
  • Ensure resident privacy during the performance of duties.

Skills & Qualifications:

  • Basic knowledge of mechanical and electrical systems, plumbing and carpentry; ability to read and interpret manuals related to equipment and building systems.
  • Good Customer service skills.
  • Must be able to work well under pressure in emergency situations.
  • Must possess excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills.
  • Previous experience in maintenance or live in superintendent is an asset.
  • Basic computer knowledge.
  • Professional manner and ability to work independently.
  • Proven decision maker and analytical thinker.
  • BES certificate an asset.
