Our team provides personalized in-home and community-based support to individuals with developmental disabilities, autism, and other cognitive challenges. Job Summary
The Developmental Services Worker (DSW) is a member of the home care team who works under the supervision of the Care Coordinator and provides personalized support services to individuals with developmental disabilities. The DSW assists clients in daily living activities, community integration, skill development, and emotional support to promote independence and quality of life.
Responsibilities
Supporting daily living activities (hygiene, dressing, mobility assistance as needed)
Encouraging independence and personal growth (skill-building, goal setting)
Implementing behavioral support strategies (following care plans, positive reinforcement)
Facilitating social and recreational activities (helping clients participate in the community)
Assisting with communication needs (supporting alternative communication methods)
Providing emotional support and companionship
Administering medication (if applicable) and assisting with health-related needs
Crisis prevention and intervention (following behavioral de-escalation techniques)
Documenting progress and behavioral observations for care teams and families
Qualifications
Developmental Services Worker (DSW) Diploma or equivalent (Social Service Worker (SSW), Educational Assistant (EA), Child and Youth Worker (CYW), etc.)
Experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities, autism, or mental health challenges
Current CPR/First Aid certification or willingness to obtain
Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI) certification or willingness to obtain (preferred)
Negative TB skin test or chest X-ray
Valid drivers license and reliable transportation (preferred)
Access to Internet and mobile phone for documentation and communication
