Job DescriptionThe Senior Design Engineer is responsible for leading AV solution development, ensuring technical accuracy, and maintaining design standards. This role is client-facing and plays a key role in shaping AV solutions that align with client needs and ET Group's best practices. The Senior Design Engineer also serves as a mentor to Junior Designers, guiding them through the design process while ensuring quality and consistency across projects.
Key Responsibilities
Client Engagement & Solution Development
- Conduct on-site assessments to understand client requirements and use cases.
- Develop AV solutions that enhance communication and collaboration for enterprise and government clients.
- Ensure designs integrate effectively with modern video conferencing platforms such as Microsoft Teams, Zoom, and Webex.
- Stay informed on AV technology trends, hybrid collaboration tools, and unified communications solutions.
Design Oversight & Documentation
- Guide Junior Designers in preparing scopes of work (SOW) and bills of materials (BOM).
- Review and validate design documentation, including schematics, elevations, and facility scope of work.
- Ensure all designs meet ET Group's standards, customer needs, and functional requirements.
- Provide accurate design inputs to the CAD team and review CAD drafts for final approval.
Team Leadership & Mentorship
- Act as the primary point of contact for complex technical challenges, serving as the L2 escalation for technicians.
- Mentor Junior Designers, helping them develop their AV design and technical documentation skills.
- Collaborate with Sales, Product Management, Operations, and other departments to align project expectations and execution.
- Participate in internal design reviews to ensure consistency and high-quality output.
Required:
- Please note, you must be eligible to work in Canada to be considered for this role.
- Extensive experience in AV system design, integration, and project execution.
- Education or equivalent work experience in AV, IT, engineering, or a related technical field.
- Strong knowledge of AV system components, including displays, audio equipment, control systems, and video conferencing solutions.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Teams, Zoom, Webex, and other video conferencing platforms.
- Ability to lead design projects, mentor junior team members, and engage with clients.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail in technical documentation.
Preferred (Nice to Have):
- AVIXA CTS certification or equivalent industry certifications.
- Experience with Crestron, Biamp, QSC, Cisco, or Extron technologies.
- Strong understanding of networking concepts related to AV integration.
