The Role:

The Accountant will assist in managing day-to-day accounting and finance requirements for the Construction Team. The ideal employee for this position is a skilled and resourceful individual who is reliable and committed to providing excellent service to internal Canco stakeholders.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Manage day-to-day financial transactions, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger entries.
  • Reconcile bank statements and ensure accuracy in financial records.
  • Prepare and analyze financial reports, such as income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements.
  • Prepare and analyze budgets, forecasts, and variance analysis.
  • Contribute to the shortening of overall cycle times.
  • Assist with external audits and tax filings.
  • Coordinate with internal departments to gather financial data and support decision-making processes.
  • Stay updated on industry trends and changes in accounting standards.
  • Performing ad-hoc administrative/reporting duties as they arise.

Requirements:

  • Preferred 2 5 years progressive experience in a related role.
  • Proven experience as an accountant, preferably in the transportation or logistics industry.
  • Proficiency in accounting software, such as Sage 50, QuickBooks, SAP, or Oracle.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Sound working and technical knowledge of accounting principles, practices and applications.
  • Professional written and verbal communication skills.
  • High level of analytical, critical, and logical thinking.
  • Affinity to learn and embrace various software platforms.
  • Proficient skills in Microsoft Office 365 and advanced knowledge of Excel.
  • Ability and desire to thrive in a collaborative department within a growing organization.
