WHAT WILL YOU DO
This is a field focused position with an office component. Reporting to the Production Manager, the Forestry Supervisor will be responsible for implementing the Forsite Health and Safety Program as well as assisting with scheduling, supervision, training, quality control, and leading a production field crew through various projects. Additionally, the Forestry Supervisor will support management in the preparation of project level budgets and plans and will work closely with other Forsite staff to effectively deliver projects.
Lead by example in safety, quality, and production
Assist in planning, overseeing, and contributing to all aspects of multi and full-phase timber development on conventional, winch-assist, and cable settings
Ensure compliance with forestry regulations, environmental standards, and company policies
Ensure that all operations comply with Forsites Health and Safety Program
Train, mentor, and coach staff on safe work practices and all aspects of timber development in British Columbia
Assist management in the inventory and maintenance of forestry equipment, and supplies
Provide daily updates to management on safety, quality, and production
Supervise development crews, assign tasks, set performance goals, and provide guidance
Foster an engaging, productive, and collaborative work environment
WHAT YOU WILL NEED
A safety conscious attitude, experience supporting safety programs, and developing a team safety culture
Post-secondary education with a diploma or degree in forestry
Registered or eligible to registered with the FPBC as an RPF or RFT
A minimum of 3-5 years of multiphase timber development project management in British Columbia
Solid understanding of, and experience in operational planning (cut block/road development processes) - Experience using LiDAR for forest development planning would be an asset Along with all relevant resource assessments for cutting permit and timber sale approval
A strong understanding of the forest legislation, regulation and policy impacting forest planning and management in British Columbia
Experience with helicopter access will be considered an asset
Valid driver's license with a clean abstract is a must
