POSITION GOAL:

The Category Supervisor is responsible for the supervision, coaching and support of a team of buyers assigned to a specific category of parts while taking primary ownership of supplier relationships and strategies that ensure best overall cost, performance, quality and availability to meet customer service level expectations.

WHAT YOU WILL DO:

  • Responsible for leading all aspects of the procurement process for an assigned category including but not limited to, supplier performance, cost management, strategic negotiations and agreements.
  • Responsible for the day-to-day supervision and development of Category Team members. Provides leadership, performance management and coaching.
  • Takes primary accountability for establishing and achieving category goals as assigned by the Category Manager (eg. Savings targets, Supplier consolidation/reduction, rebates and programs, etc.).
  • Fully knowledgeable and responsible to cover for the buying functions/tasks as required.
  • Collaborates and supports the NFI Parts Sourcing team to minimize customer impact due to obsolescence and supply constraints.
  • Takes an active role in limiting and resolving U-care level escalations and is responsible for minimizing ICU level escalations.
  • Main point of contact for NFI Parts with Suppliers to build strong relationships while leveraging synergies with the Production business units in the NFI Group to ensure overall cost and performance objectives are met, while maintaining a collaborative approach to foster continuous improvement with Supply base.
  • Works closely with Customer Service and Business Development to identify new business opportunities, develop plans and assist in development of Supplier agreements to support new initiatives.
  • Leads the Category team in monitoring and reporting of KPI's and Supplier Scorecards to support the performance of the category.
  • Lead cross-functional efforts to implement Supplier Performance programs to meet NFI Parts objectives.
  • Develop and present quarterly Category Review results and observations.
  • Assist in the development of category objectives for the Department annual operating plan.
  • Conduct Supplier site visits and attend Trade Shows as required.
  • Work closely with supporting cross functional areas to ensure optimal Supply Chain performance.
  • Work closely with supporting departments (Inventory Planning, Traffic & Customs, and Warehouse Operations) to ensure optimal service levels and Supply Chain performance.
  • Other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

WHAT YOU NEED TO BE SUCCESSFUL:

  • Post-secondary education in Business, Supply Chain management or related field.
  • Experience in supply chain, procurement, or strategic sourcing.
  • Strong Leadership skills, excellent written and verbal communication skills, self-motivated, strong organizational and analytic skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Intermediate to Advanced Excel skills, PowerPoint, Outlook, Word).
  • Knowledge of Oracle is an asset.
