Job Title: Advanced Care ParamedicReporting to the Manager, Health & Safety, the Advanced Care Paramedic is responsible for the development, implementation, continuous improvement, and execution of Skeena Resources' medical services & emergency response programs. This role will work directly with site personnel, contractors, and various stakeholders to ensure safe operations and continuous improvement in the medical services & emergency response space.The Advanced Care Paramedic is the primary resources for treating all non-occupational and occupational injuries at the Eskay Creek site. Additionally, the Advanced Care Paramedic is part of the Eskay Creek Fire & Mine Rescue team, responding to calls for service on the Eskay Creek site.This is a seasonal position with an anticipated employment term until approximately November, depending on workload and the construction season.Responsibilities (including but not limited to):Medical Advice and Treatment:
  • Provide advice and treatment for all non-occupational and occupational medical conditions for personnel at the Eskay Creek Site.
On-Call Medical Coverage:
  • Provide on-call medical coverage when required, ensuring immediate response to medical needs.
Emergency & Medical Equipment Inspections:
  • Conduct inspections to ensure that all emergency and medical equipment and facilities are ready for use at all times.
Input on Medical Services Strategy:
  • Provide input on the development of the medical services strategy, ensuring alignment with the site's health and safety goals.
Collaborative Treatment Plans:
  • Work closely with the contracted medical oversight provider to develop and implement treatment plans for injured employees.
Injury Trend Reporting:
  • Monitor and report on injury trends for both occupational and non-occupational injuries, providing valuable data for injury prevention strategies.
Emergency Response Participation:
  • Respond to all emergencies on the Eskay Creek Mine site as a member of the Eskay Creek Fire & Mine Rescue Team, ensuring rapid, effective medical intervention.
Emergency Response Training:
  • Attend and participate in emergency response team training sessions as required to maintain readiness for emergency situations.
Injury Management & Return to Work:
  • Assist with the return to work/injury management program, conducting functional abilities assessments and ensuring compliance with WorkSafeBC injury reporting requirements.
Medical Surveillance Program:
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of the Eskay Creek Medical Surveillance Program to monitor the health of personnel and ensure appropriate medical oversight.
Additional Responsibilities
  • Promote and sustain a strong safety culture across all levels of the organization.
  • Perform other duties as reasonably assigned.
The Ideal CandidateEducation / Qualifications:
  • BC EMALB Advanced Care Paramedic License or above
  • ACLS Certification
Experience / Skills
  • A minimum of 3+ years of Advanced Care Paramedic level work, preferably within the mining or resources sector.
  • Excellent knowledge of remote care best practices
  • Experience working with remote physician oversight in an industrial setting is preferred
  • Experience in major projects and mining construction is preferred
  • Working knowledge of BC Clinical Practice Guidelines for Paramedics
  • Experience working in emergency situations in a team environment
  • Emergency Response Team or BC Surface Mine Rescue certification preferred
  • Strong computer skills using MS office suite is required.
  • Detail oriented with excessive attention to detail
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Exhibits a high degree of responsibility for confidential matters
  • Effective team player who can jump in wherever is needed
  • Strong interpersonal and reasoning skills, with proven problem-solving abilities
  • Highly self-motivated with the ability to work independently as well as with others
Work Location & ConditionsThis is a site-based camp job at Eskay Creek Mine site. This position involves working at a remote mine site on a 15 days on/13 days off rotation. The Eskay Creek Revitalization Project is located within the Coast Mountains of Northwestern British Columbia and Tahltan Territory. Ground transportation will be provided from local communities to the Eskay Creek Site facilities. For those applicants located elsewhere in western Canada, flight transportation from major urban centers will be provided to the Terrace or Smithers airports, from which shuttles will provide transportation to the Eskay Creek Camp facilities. Travel time and expenses are subject to Skeena's Travel Policy. There will be exposure to extreme temperatures in all seasons including working outdoors in snow, mud, ice, and water conditions, walking to and from different locations on uneven ground, prolonged periods of standing and physically handling/lifting/moving heavy objects.
