Job SummaryReporting to the Haida House manager , the Server position will be responsible for delivering an exceptional guest experience. The hours of work will include evenings and weekends.We are seeking a Part-Time Server to provide outstanding guest service in a dynamic lodge setting. This role includes serving, hosting, seating guests, and potentially bartending. The ideal candidate is passionate about hospitality, knowledgeable about food and beverages, and capable of creating a welcoming and professional dining experience.
Duties and ResponsibilitiesServing & Guest Experience- Take food and beverage orders in the POS system and ensure prompt delivery.
- Explain ingredients and preparation techniques to guests.
- Deliver orders to tables and bus tables efficiently.
- Maintain awareness of dietary and allergy concerns and communicate them to the kitchen.
- Present, open, pour, and serve wine when required.
- Present bills and ensure cash-out procedures are completed correctly.
- Handle guests complaints and concerns promptly and professionally.
- Greet guests warmly upon arrival and escort them to their tables.
- Manage reservations and organize seating to optimize guest flow.
- Ensure the dining room and lounge maintain a welcoming atmosphere.
- Communicate wait times and accommodate special seating requests.
- Prepare and serve house cocktails, beer, and wine following responsible service guidelines.
- Maintain knowledge of the daily menu and house cocktails.
- Ensure the bar area is clean, organized, and stocked.
- Follow liquor service regulations and check IDs as required.
- Set up and tear down dining room, lounge, and conference room, arranging tables, chairs, cutlery, and linens.
- Organize storage areas and clean dining areas, lounges, and conference rooms.
- Polish cutlery and glassware.
- Ensure all areas remain clean and tidy throughout service.
- Other related duties as required.
- Strong organization and time management skills.
- Understanding of Haida cultural values.
- Ability to deal with conflict in a calm and professional manner.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills.
- Ability to multitask and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
- Previous serving experience required.
- Drivers license an asset.
- Hosting and seating experience preferred.
- Bartending experience is considered an asset.
- Working knowledge of restaurant point-of-sale systems is considered an asset.
- Serving It Right certificate required or willingness to obtain.
