The CCI Ottawa has been serving refugees and immigrants for more than 65 years. CCI is a bridge between the 7,000 immigrants and refugees who come to Ottawa each year and the community. We provide programs and services to help newcomers settle and integrate. We also work in the community to promote the value of a diverse and more welcoming community for all.
POSITION SUMMARY
Under the direction of the Program Manager, the Housing Placement Workerisresponsible for assisting clients, project staff and supporting activities of the Settlement Department.

MAIN DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Under the direction of the Program Manager, Housing Placement Workerwill:
- Place newly arrived families in the assigned accommodation by escorting them to their temporary home.
- Provide case management planning, needs assessment, supportive counselling, crisis intervention and information and referral services.
- Conduct community mapping and engages volunteers in the settlement process.
- Conduct home visits and delivers off-site services to offer post housing/settlement stabilization services.
- Liaise and mediate with host families with or on behalf of clients.
- Assist clients to establish and maintain links with appropriate resources including services relating to employment, language training, settlement, general health care, volunteer opportunities, etc.
- Keep administrative records of services and activities, inputs data using CIS, the agency database, and completes narrative reports monthly.
- Conduct exit interviews when all client needs in the initial settlement plan are addressed; seeks feedback from service providers and host families.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Post-secondary education in social services, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Minimum 2 years of experience working in a social service setting.
- Experience providing one-on-one support to clients.
- Knowledge of services and resources available to assist newcomers in Ottawa.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, including negotiation, mediation, and conflict resolution.
- Experience in facilitating workshops and group sessions.
- Ability to deal with confidential materials and matters.
- Ability to work independently and with minimal supervision.
- Works well in a multidisciplinary, culturally diverse workplace.
- Experience working with Microsoft Office Suite.
- Fluency in English isrequired. Fluency in other languages is an asset.
