The Role:

Canco is seeking an experienced Accounting Manager to support our Category and Marketing Department. This role provides an exciting opportunity to play a pivotal part in our finance team, ensuring the smooth and effective management of budgets, reporting, and financial compliance.

Core Responsibilities:

Vendor & Contract Management

  • Analyze all category vendor contracts for financial terms, expiration dates, and compliance with the latest agreements.
  • Monitor vendor-supported promotions, ensuring reimbursements are appropriately invoiced and accounted for.

Financial Reporting & Budgeting

  • Monitor, update, and prepare performance and budget reports for the Category and Marketing Department's budget.
  • Generate and present financial reports, including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements, along with monthly and annual accounting results, budgets, and forecasts.
  • Oversee revenues and expenses related to Canco Kitchen and events like the AGM.

Financial Analysis & Investment Evaluation

  • Create and analyze operational, category, and marketing reports such as break-even analyses and investment analyses for new sites.
  • Conduct ROI calculations, including but not limited to investment analysis, margin analysis, equipment pricing analysis, total investment requirements, and viability assessments for categories and marketing programs.
  • Leverage data from CSO for SKU insights and conduct margin analysis.
  • Evaluate the financial impact of new ideas and programs, including cost, margin analysis, and overall viability.
  • Provide ROI and financial recommendations to Category Managers and RAMS to ensure program understanding and successful execution.
  • Support program analysis for category managers and marketing promotions, including loyalty and gift card initiatives.
  • Conduct financial analyses for marketing proposals to ensure loyalty funds can support promotions and their proposed duration.
  • Help create RCA models and operational support projections, including sales projections and forecasting.
  • Support IT and kitchen/food programs with ROI and cost-benefit analyses.

Accounts Payable & Receivable Management

  • Manage and monitor the Category and Marketing Department's accounts payable and receivable, including Edge rebates and revenue reconciliation.
  • Prepare and send settlement schedules to sites for monthly ATM RapidCash and quarterly Edge vendor rebates.
  • Complete EFT authorization forms/requests to facilitate vendor payments.

Compliance & Process Improvement

  • Ensure adherence to GAAP, company policies, and compliance requirements.
  • Assess current accounting operations and processes, recommending and implementing improvements.
  • Assist in planning and executing the annual audit in collaboration with external auditors.

Collaboration & Team Support

  • Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement within the finance department.
  • Collaborate with the Financial Controller and Assistant Financial Controller to provide a reporting link between controllers, accountants, and bookkeepers.
  • Support the accounting team in daily tasks, general inquiries, and training.
  • Assist in overseeing departmental accounting and control functions.
  • Create and manage an overseas support team, including training and establishing workflows.
  • Select and support the RFP Committee for National Wholesale partnerships, focusing on financial aspects.
  • Undertake other duties as required to support the finance and accounting functions effectively.
  • Complete additional projects related to financial oversite of Category, Marketing and Ops Teams activities as requested by immediate supervisor.

Qualifications:

  • At least 2 years of experience in accounting or finance, preferably in vendor management, budgeting, and financial analysis.
  • Strong understanding of GAAP and financial reporting.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
  • Ability to handle multiple projects and tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
