Your role:

The Billing Clerk is the first point of contact for customer inquiries, responsible for invoicing and processing payments for Global Relay's customers for the full suite of services. Ensuring that invoices and payments are posted completely and accurately, and processed on a timely basis is integral to the role. Customer service, communication and collaboration skills are key for this role! You play an essential role supporting the Billing Operations team and will report to the Team Lead, Revenue & Receivables. Your responsibilities:

  • First point of contact for customer phone calls regarding billing and payment matters, providing post-sales correspondence and assist customers with billing inquiries with a focus on exceptional customer service
  • Respond to customer inquiries (cases, emails, phone calls) regarding billing, payments, account discrepancies with professionalism, empathy, and on a timely basis
  • Post cash receipts for cheque, electronic, and credit card payments and apply to customer accounts on a daily basis
  • Process one-time and recurring credit card payments using our online merchant gateway
  • Deposit customer cheques electronically and file according to company and bank policies, occasionally depositing cheques directly at the branch
  • Investigate and resolve unapplied payments received from customers
  • Assist in reconciling customer accounts and preparing reports as needed
  • Prepare and complete invoices and credit notes with accuracy, on a timely basis using information maintained within the Salesforce CRM application and internal databases
  • Follow accounting policies and guidelines to ensure that revenues are recorded correctly based on invoices completed
  • Work cross-functionally with other departments to ensure complete, accurate, and timely billing for customers
  • Identify opportunities to improve billing processes and enhance customer experience
  • Perform other accounting or administrative duties and ad hoc tasks as required

About you:

  • A minimum of 1-3 years experience in an accounting or finance office environment
  • Impeccable accuracy with numbers and high attention to detail
  • Exceptional customer service, communication and collaboration skills with a problem-solving mindset
  • Excellent telephone etiquette and ability to write clear and professional business communication
  • Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office, especially Excel (vlookups, pivot tables, etc.)
  • Ability to work with a sense of urgency, prioritize work and meet objectives/deadlines
  • Ability to exercise tact and discretion and to be entrusted with confidential information
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Ability to work independently as well as within a team with minimal supervision
  • Post-secondary education in Accounting with a good understanding of financial terminology is an asset
  • Familiarity or experience with the Salesforce CRM and/or NetSuite ERP system and other cloud-based applications is an asset

Compensation:

Global Relay advertises the pay range for this role in compliance with British Columbia's pay transparency laws. Individual pay rates are determined by evaluating factors such as expertise, skills, education, and professional background.

The range below reflects the expected annual base salary, which is only one element of our comprehensive total rewards package designed to reflect our company pay philosophy, culture and values. British Columbia - Base Salary Range:$40,000—$50,000 CAD
