Job Description

We're looking for an Economic Development Summer Student who has an interest in marketing the community, business retention, business expansion and investment attraction and a keen interest in learning. If you are looking for practical experience in a busy and dynamic Economic Development Department, are innovative, enjoy multitasking, and are able to easily adapt to changing priorities, you may be the right one to join the team!

Job Duties:

  • Review, analyze, comment on, and prepare reports regarding investment attraction opportunities and marketing materials.
  • Meet with members of the public and represent the County at public information meetings that may be held with respect to economic development processes.
  • Liaise and coordinate with other Country departments, government agencies and adjacent municipalities.
  • Presentation of comments and recommendations to Council.
  • Aid on long-range projects.
  • Conduct research as required.
  • Support public engagement activities by attending public events, communicating projects to the public, and facilitating workshops and other activities.
  • Participate in other administrative and economic development activities and issues as required.
Qualifications
  • At least one-year post-secondary education in a recognized Business, Marketing, Agriculture, Forestry, Graphic Design, Planning or related program.
  • Clean Driver's Abstract and valid Class 5 Driver's License

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:

  • Friendly and co-operative with the public.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Microsoft office: Excel, Word, PowerPoint.

Additional Information

This position is Monday to Friday, from 8:30am - 4:30pm and runs from May 1 to August 29, 2025. Some evenings and weekends may be required.

Hourly Wage: $24.95 - $29.36

Closing Date: April 2, 2025
