The Customer Quality Engineer (CQE) ensures maintaining high-quality processes and Products utilizing Quality Assurance techniques, monitoring and control of products. CQE is the contact point to customers and manage the relationship on new product introduction, Quality assurance activities and warranty. CQE is responsible for ensuring Customer quality requirements are met through APQP process involvement by identifying and providing support to new product introduction team, PPAP activities, leading Corrective actions and managing the quality assurance of the products. The Quality Engineer reports directly to the Quality Assurance manager.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Actively participate in Product Launch from Proto development stage to production launch
- Leading customer Quality requirements and quality sign-off engineering drawings
- Support Tool review for pilot run and support of pilot run of components and final assembly
- Develop PFMEA and control plan and support of Manufacturing engineer on production runs,
- Develop PPAP including preparation activities, Dimensional result review, material certification and related tests , pack plans , IMDS submission
- Review the nonconforming parts , coordinate containment and finalize the disposition , Issuing rework for nonconforming parts , if applicable and support Operation team
- Manage Corrective actions ( customer or internally issued ) utilizing 8D approach
- Warranty review and analysis, response to customer and follow up of the repetitive cases with engineering
- Contribute to continuous improvement and cost reduction activities.
- Support Daily production support of operations team on in-process quality control and improvements
- Managing Quality Alert , Training and follow up with the operating team
- Generate and maintain shop floor inspection plans, Visual Aids, Check fixture instructions.
- Assist on supplier PPAP, internal PPAP verification and approval
- Perform product and process audits as per Audit schedule.
- Assist in the training of production personnel in all quality requirements when needed.
- Immediately advise Quality Manager of any circumstances that affect production, product quality or safety.
- Communicate quality issues to the interested parties, Quality, Engineering, manufacturing engineering and operations
- Performs all other duties assigned by the manager.
Educational Requirement:
- Mechanical/Metallurgical/Chemical Engineering degree from accredited University.
- Completion or enrollment in a Certified QE programs is an asset.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Minimum 5 years of working experience as Quality Engineer.
- Familiarity with ISO9001:2015 and Internal Audit.
- Experienced in New product development Process and PPAP submission
- Experience managing customer base from quality perspective, proficiency in problem solving and customer care.
- Proficiency on reading blue prints and competency with standard metrology tools
- Problem solving ability in production environment, team leadership utilizing problem solving and statistical techniques
- Proficient with GD&T and APQP tools and techniques (FMEA, Control Plan, SPC, Capability study , DOE)
- AIAG manuals and familiarity of SPC applications.
- MIG, Resistance and Spot welding.
- Computer Skills (MS Office including previous use of MS Access, Minitab Statistical Software).
- Ability to work in groups as well as independently with minimal supervision.
- Experience leading & structuring customer calls.
- Strong analytical skills, attentive to detail and effective communication skills.
- Team player who thrives in a fast paced work environment.
