Position: Cost Accountant
Location: Whitchurch-Stouffville, ON
Work Arrangement: Hybrid (3 days in-office per week)
A well-established leader in the industrial manufacturing sector is seeking a skilled Cost Accountant to join its finance team. This role is ideal for a detail-oriented professional with expertise in cost accounting, financial analysis, and inventory control. The successful candidate will play a key role in maintaining financial accuracy and supporting strategic decision-making within a dynamic work environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Cost AccountingMaintain and update standard cost models and rate structures.
Conduct analysis on production variances, planned material pricing, standard activity rates, and overhead allocations.
Collaborate with internal teams to implement updates in financial systems.
Prepare and analyze cost-related reports and perform monthly costing runs.
Assist with budgeting and forecasting by providing cost estimates and financial insights.
Ensure accuracy of inventory records through regular review and reconciliation.
Process complex inventory transactions and investigate discrepancies.
Support physical inventory counts, including variance analysis and reporting.
Reconcile general ledger accounts and ensure proper documentation.
Post journal entries and assist with month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closing activities.
Provide support during audits by preparing documentation and responding to inquiries.
Perform ad-hoc financial reporting and analysis as needed.
Qualifications & Skills:
Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, or a related field.
CPA designation (or in progress).
5-10 years of progressive accounting experience, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
Strong familiarity with ERP systems (SAP experience is an asset).
Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail.
Strong organizational and time management abilities.
Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented setting.
Bilingual proficiency in English and French is an asset.
Valid driver's license required.
