As part of the front-line support team, theData Center Technicianwill report to the Data Center Manager and play a critical role in ensuring the smooth operation of the facilities. The role is a vital operational function assisting in ensuring we provide very high levels of availability for customers mission critical computing and colocation needs. eStruxtures data centers are world class facilities with high levels of redundancy, complexity and risk management.

The duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Facility
Conduct regular checks of power and HVAC systems to ensure optimal performance for colocation and managed services customers.
Monitor basic network status and perform initial checks using the monitoring systems.
Respond to fault conditions and assist with repair/remediation.
Maintain an updated inventory of operational infrastructure assets.
Maintain an access-card system.
Perform regular power, cooling, and user access audits.
Help customers with equipment shipping and receiving.
Provisioning
Rack and stack various IT hardware into racks. Physically prepare servers, network, storage and security hardware.
Assemble and install servers, test and troubleshoot hardware components, and report inventory issues in a prompt fashion.
Troubleshoot and resolve basic OS and network level issues.
Install various operating systems (Windows and Linux), and configure basic network settings on servers.
Perform colocation cabinet installation according to standards.
Install and test copper and fiber cables throughout the data center and various computer rooms.
Security
Ensure physical and remote security policies and procedures are being strictly followed.
Document any changes or incidents and report or escalate as required.
Follow the companys change policy (approval process and project management).
Perform scheduled walkthroughs and report any issues to the appropriate department manager.
Training
Assist in documenting and maintaining an up-to-date DC Technician's Handbook.
Special projects may be assigned based on skill-level and qualifications

Experience
- Minimum 3 years working in a data center operations environment.
- Work experience managing and driving projects to successful completion, ideally with team members in several remote locations.
- Experience dealing with customers during problem resolution and operating efficiently under pressure.
- Experience managing work and priorities through a ticketing system
Education/Certification/Designation
- Bachelor in Engineering, Networking, Technology, Telecom, or the equivalent, or the equivalent work experience.
Competencies
- Proven ability to manage customer expectations and resolve conflicts.
Technical Skills/Knowledge
- Proficiency with Google Suite.
- Excellent prioritization and time management skills.
- Excellent knowledge of server hardware.
- Solid working knowledge and understanding of Linux, UNIX administration and Copper/Fiber Optic Testing/Cabling Standards.
- Basic to intermediate electrical and HVAC familiarity would be considered an asset especially electrical circuit types, ASHRAE principles and Uptime Institute topologies.
- Significant working knowledge of Netsuit.
- Working knowledge of systems Avigilon, Milestone Xprotext, Keyscan, Metasys.
- Understanding of distributed and service-oriented architectures.
- Ability to lift 50lbs on occasion.
- Valid driver license to transit between sites.
Working Conditions
A minimum 40-hour work week is expected. Start/finish hours to be discussed and agreed upon in writing or via email with the Data Center Manager. Shift work in nature and depending on facility, may be a 24x7 shiftwork requirement.Required to be part of the on-call coverage rotation (1 week at a time, every 3-4 weeks). On occasion, the candidate may have to work with challenging clients, work on shifts longer that the standard 8 hour shift, work on evenings, nights, or on weekends.
