POSITION SUMMARY:

This position is primarily responsible for New Flyer's timely and strategic response to customer procurement requests for the assigned market segment.

WHAT YOU WILL DO:

  • Lead cross-functional teams through the review of customer specifications and develop a competitive bid strategy aligned with New Flyer's sales objectives while managing technical and commercial risks.
  • Initiate and manage the Bid BOM in Teamcenter, coordinating work cell and functional team activities to ensure all tasks are completed by required due dates.
  • Ensure the Bid BOM contains accurate, complete information before the pre-production process begins.
  • Oversee the timely preparation and submission of proposal documents, collaborating with various departments to compile complete and precise bid documentation.
  • Develop pricing recommendations based on competitive analysis, project cost estimates, and profit targets, ensuring margin validations and necessary approvals per company policy.
  • Adhere to the established Bid Strategy throughout the pre-production process, adjusting as needed based on contract changes, and actively participate in strategy and customer pre-production meetings.
  • Maintain the sales funnel, customer health dashboard, CRM database, and other support documentation, while providing input for the Master Production Schedule forecast.
  • Lead post-mortem reviews of wins and losses with work cell and Regional Sales Managers to recommend improvements to New Flyer's commercial and technical value propositions, while monitoring competitor submissions.
  • Develop and nurture relationships with customer procurement teams, serving as the primary point of contact during the bid process to ensure clear communication of customer needs and expectations.
  • Stay informed on industry standards, FTA requirements, and emerging transportation technologies, contributing insights to the Change Control Board and Marketing & Sales Support teams.

Requirements

WHAT YOU NEED TO BE SUCCESSFUL:

    • Educational Background: A university degree in business, engineering, or a related field—or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
    • Project Management: Proven experience managing complex projects with a strong track record of successful bid responses.
    • Industry Insight: Experience in heavy-duty transportation, including exposure to buses or coaches, is a plus.
    • Financial Acumen: Familiarity with basic accounting principles as they relate to pricing and cost management is preferred.
    • Contractual Knowledge: An understanding of contractual terms and conditions to help assess and manage technical and commercial risks.
    • Communication Skills: Exceptional verbal and written communication abilities, capable of engaging and influencing both internal teams and external customers.
    • Organizational Skills: Excellent time management and the ability to juggle competing demands without compromising quality or deadlines.
    • Technical Proficiency: Strong command of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) with experience in CRM systems or similar tools.
