The Mobile Hairdresser – Private Pay (MHD-PP) provides a variety of professional hair services at our Patrons preferred locations such as in-home, long term care facilities, retirement homes, community care facilities etc. The MHD-PP offer haircuts, styling, washes, coloring, and treatments etc. while delivering a personalized and convenient salon experience. As a contractor of SJHC, the MHD-PP understands quality customer service and takes a person-centered approach to their work.
The typical SJHC Patrons that the MHD-PP would provide service to are those living either permanently or temporarily in a care facility, or who are receiving Home Care services in their homes. Patrons may be frail, elderly, have mobility challenges, or require support with the daily activities of living.
The MHD-PP is a Contractor of SJHC working under a Contract For Services agreement and is not a direct employee of our organization. MHD-PP typically determines their own totally hours of work within the framework of the Contract for Services, and can accept or decline offers of work as they deem appropriate.
CORE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Travel to the homes, offices, or events to provide general hairdressing services within the framework of the Contract for Services
  • Consult with clients to understand their hair goals and recommend suitable styles and treatments
  • Perform unisex haircuts, hair styling, coloring, wash and set, set only, and other treatments within the framework of the Contract for Services
  • Ensuring high quality hair care and customer satisfaction
  • Maintain a clean and professional setup, and post service tidy up
  • Providing own portable tools and products necessary to perform services
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with clients to encourage repeat bookings
  • Present as a professional, friendly, and courteous manner, as a Contract representative of SJHC
  • Stay up to date with the latest hair trends, techniques, and products
  • Collaborate effectively with the staff working in the Patron's location
  • Coordinate with SJHC in the management of appointments and scheduling
  • Maintaining the privacy and confidentiality of any personal health information exposed to in the performance of the Services
  • Report any privacy or confidentially issues to SJHC leadership

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Certification in hairdressing from a reputable school, required
  • licensed Hairstylist in good standing with Skilled Trades Ontario, required
  • 6-12 months previous work experience, preferred
  • Mobile hair dressing experience, preferred
  • Strong knowledge of hair care products, tools, and techniques, required
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills, required
  • Ability to work independently and manage a flexible schedule, required
  • A valid driver's license, insurance and reliable transportation, required
  • Own professional hairdressing tools and products, required
  • Previous experience in a community care facility, retirement home, long term care facility or other related environment, preferred
  • Previous experience with frail, elderly, or different abled customers, preferred
