ABOUT THE ROLE:

The Data Engineer position will focus on the design, development, and implementation of robust, scalable, and secure data pipelines feeding HTCs Cloud Data Lakehouse. Candidates should possess a strong background in Cloud-based technology with proven experience implementing Data Lake and Data Warehouse pipelines using the Azure and Databricks Platform. The ideal candidate is a technologist with ETL/ELT development and data modelling experience combined with business acumen.

This role requires the ability to work independently on multiple simultaneous tasks within a challenging fast paced team and customer-oriented environment. We are looking for a candidate with a strong passion for success and solving business problems, driven by technology innovation, and is passionate about data and analytics.

In addition:

  • Design and implement scalable data pipelines solutions for HTCs Cloud Data Warehouse to support anticipated growth in data volumes, data sources, metadata and complexity.
  • Collaborate across the Reporting & Analytics team to improve data feeds for Business Intelligence and Advanced Analytical tools and applications.
  • Collaborate with IT engineers, Integration Engineers, Product Engineers to improve and sustain HTCs overall data platform architecture.
  • Translate requirement into conceptual and detailed designs with an ability to estimate work.
  • Develop clean, maintainable code in a CI/CD environment.
  • Write unit/integration tests and document work.
  • When needed, help to mentor the Data and Analytics team in the domain of Data Engineering on Azure and Databricks Platform.
  • Implement processes to monitor data quality, integrity and timeliness to support and upkeep of our Service Level Agreement with key stakeholders.
  • Identify, document, resolve and escalate issues as required.
  • Validate information generated within reports and dashboards that are developed by the Reporting & Analytics
  • Participate in user acceptance testing (including scenario development) and document test results.
  • Ensure integrity of information is maintained post-implementation by periodic audits of data and pipeline jobs in production.

WHAT WE REQUIRE:

  • Authorized to work in Canada
  • Great communication skills
  • Post-secondary degree or diploma, preferably in business management, finance, or related field (university an asset)
  • 3+ years in Data Warehousing and ETL Development Experience
  • 2+ years Implementation experience with Databricks/Delta Lake Platform using Databricks
  • 2+ years in Azure Data Factory or other ETL tools
  • Fluent with Python, SQL, Spark, Scala, Databricks Technologies
  • Experience with batch data pipelining framework
