Job Title: Day Camp Lifeguard - Seasonal
Supervisor: Camp Director
Hours of Work: Monday - Friday, 9:00 5:00 (June 23-August 29)
Job Summary:
The Lifeguard is responsible for the safety and well-being of campers in all lakefront activities, training camp staff, volunteers and campers in waterfront safety procedures as well as delivering basic canoe and kayak instruction.
Duties:
- Lifeguard lakefront activities at Fort Whyte Alive
- Assist other camp staff in delivery of camp programs
- Delivery of water safety sessions to staff, counsellors and campers
- Develop water program schedule in conjunction with other camp staff
- Maintain a safe and controlled atmosphere during water activities
- Maintaining inventory of First Aid supplies
- Administering First Aid to campers
- Maintain cleanliness of FortWhyte camp setting, inside and out
- Prepare a final report
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
- Experience working with children in a lakeside setting
- National Lifeguard certification
- CPR and Standard First Aid
- Strong oral communication skills
- Proven behaviour management and problem-solving skills
- Reliable transportation
Assets:
- Experience and/or certification in canoeing, kayaking, sailing, bouldering and/or archery
