Position: Supervisor

Type: Full-time

Location: CNRL Horizon CS

Schedule: 7 on / 7 off - Nightshift

Role Summary:

The Supervisor is responsible for coaching, resolving issues and serving as a link between subordinates and upper management. They may conduct regular inspections of the work to check for inconsistencies and deviations from company-established quality standards. The ideal candidate will be a competent individual who will be able to guide and train employees.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Endorse company culture, values, and Absolute rules.
  • Supervise, coordinate, and schedule the activities for heavy equipment operators and laborers.
  • Assign work to employees based on job requirements, site conditions, and available resources, and worker qualifications.
  • Maintain the security and condition of physical assets.
  • Conduct internal audits to ensure overall compliance with industry and company standards and assist in addressing non-compliance issues.
  • Monitor and evaluate worker performance to ensure productivity and adherence to established standards.
  • Conduct performance evaluations for employees.
  • Develop safe work assignment plans as necessary.
  • Oversee and approve Field Level Hazard Assessments (FLHAs) and work progress to ensure compliance with safety standards.
  • Conduct and/or attend worker line-up and safety meetings.
  • Collaborate with the HSE Specialist to foster continuous improvement and a proactive safety approach.
  • Analyze organizational operating and safety practices and procedures.
  • Work with the Trainer/Coach to enhance training and competencies.
  • Demonstrate equipment use as required and conduct training for reporting personnel.
  • Evaluate operators on equipment use as required.
  • Estimate equipment, material, and labor requirements.
  • Maintain production and work records.
  • Control and monitor business costs and expenses, providing regular verbal and written reports to the Site Manager.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Site Manager.

Education & Experience:

  • 5 to 7 years of proven leadership experience
  • 5-10 years' experience as an equipment operator is required.
  • Valid Class 5 Driver's License is required.
    • Class 1 or 3 license is considered an asset.
  • CSTS-09 and OSSA Regional Orientation or OSSA BSO (Basic Safety Orientation before December 31, 2018) or CSO (Common Safety Orientation after January 1, 2019) is required.
  • Successful progression through roles
  • Advanced knowledge of the MS Office Suite. Previous experience with Maximo is considered an asset.
  • Solid understanding of safety and training legislation; competency, observation and evaluation skills
  • Proficient in conflict resolution and employee management, with experience in addressing workplace issues, facilitating communication, and implementing strategies to enhance team dynamics and productivity.
  • Strong skills in problem-solving, judgment, and decision-making, with a proven ability to assess costs and benefits and select the most effective actions.
  • A combination of education and experience will be considered.
