The Customer Service Attendant is responsible for providing superior customer service and maintaining positive customer relationships while performing check-in duties. This position backs up ground service attendants and may also assist in providing ground service duties when required.
Primary Responsibilities
- Ensure that passengers travelling are deemed "fit to fly" in accordance with the regulations.
- Assist passengers to enplane, deplane and with their baggage.
- Track lost luggage to and from all bases and mine sites.
- Monitor radio and communicate as required.
- Where required at a base:
- Accept and handle cargo according to respective customers' cargo screening programs.
- Inquire with passengers about dangerous goods in baggage and cargo.
- Process and/or track all baggage and freight requirements.
General Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain knowledge of the company's vision, mission, and values.
- Customers service attendants will be cross-trained with ground service attendants, detailers, and cargo agents, where applicable, to provide those duties/coverage when necessary.
- Safety responsibilities as outlined in the Safety Management System (SMS) manual.
Qualifications
Typically, the knowledge and skills required for this position include a high school diploma, with one to two years' progressive customer service experience. Previous work experience or training in aviation is considered an asset. A combination of education and experience may be considered.
Skills, knowledge, and abilities include:
- Demonstrated experience in serving a diverse and complex customer base.
- Professional judgement and well-defined conflict resolution skills in handling sensitive situations with tact, diplomacy, and high ethical standards.
- Proficient in utilizing Microsoft Office applications and software specific to company operations including Flight Information Display and Skyline applications.
- Able and willing to work on modified schedules, including early mornings, late nights, and holidays.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a Provincial driver's license, Restricted Area Identification Card (RAIC) and an Airside Vehicle Operators Permit (AVOP) where required at a base.
- Complete WHIMS and Dangerous Goods Awareness Training.

Typical Physical and Cognitive Demands
- Required to be on call for evening and weekend shifts and may be required to respond to callouts as required.
- Able to work long and sometimes irregular hours under different weather conditions.
- Ability to lift 50 pounds.
- Ground and/or air travel required.
