DIGITAL & DATA BUSINESS SCIENTIST
Reporting to the Senior Manager, Business Transformation Services, this role oversees the digital footprint of VP. This includes leading the extraction of meaningful insights from complex datasets to support business strategy and growth. The core responsibilities include data analysis, data quality management, data cleansing, data integrity, data consumption, data visualization, and high-quality interpretation and insights. The position requires strong analytical and problem-solving skills, excellent communication abilities, and proficiency in data analysis tools and programming languages.
Additionally, this role will also oversee and monitor VPs digital and e-commerce solutions which includes understanding industry trends and the competitive landscape. These solutions include but are not limited to the B2B website, vendor reporting platforms, as well as the CRM.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Data Analysis:
- Lead and oversee the data analysis process to extract meaningful insights from complex, large datasets.
- Develop and implement data models and algorithms to support business decision-making.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand KPI and data requirements to deliver actionable insights.
Data Quality Management:
- Establish and maintain data quality standards and procedures.
- Monitor data quality metrics and implement corrective actions to ensure data accuracy and reliability.
- This applies to both internal and external data reporting.
- Conduct regular data audits to identify and resolve data quality issues.
Data Integrity:
- Ensure the integrity and security of data throughout its lifecycle.
- Implement data governance policies and procedures to maintain data integrity.
- Conduct regular reviews and updates of data integrity protocols.
Data Cleansing:
- Develop and implement data cleansing strategies and processes to remove inaccuracies and inconsistencies from datasets.
- Utilize advanced data cleansing tools and techniques to ensure data integrity.
Data Consumption:
- Facilitate the efficient consumption of data by end-users through the development of user-friendly data interfaces.
- Provide training and support to stakeholders on data consumption best practices.
- Collaborate with relevant technology stakeholders to optimize data storage and retrieval processes.
Data Visualization:
- Create compelling data visualizations to communicate complex data insights effectively.
- Utilize data visualization tools such as Tableau, Power BI, or similar platforms.
- Develop dashboards and reports to support business intelligence initiatives.
Analysis and Interpretation:
- Interpret data analysis results and provide actionable recommendations to stakeholders.
- Present data insights to senior management and other key stakeholders.
- Stay updated with industry trends and best practices in data analysis and interpretation.
Digital Platform Oversight:
- Subject matter expert on all things digital including but not limited to SEO/SEM, e-commerce best practices, user experience design best practices, content marketing, web/digital analytics and reporting.
- Identifies and proposes digital opportunities to improve service offerings based on performance metrics, including analytics and SEO results.
- Communicates and proactively coordinates efforts directly with various teams, to advance knowledge and digital solutions.
- Connects digital solutions to business needs.
Health & Safety:
- Works in compliance with the Occupational Health & Safety Act.
- Report any health & safety violations or hazards to manager.
Good Manufacturing Practices:
- Follow and understand all relevant Standard Operating Procedures with respect to Good Manufacturing Practices.
Skills and Knowledge Required:
- Bachelor's or masters degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics, or a related field.
- Marketing experience is considered an asset.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in data analysis, data quality management, and data visualization.
- Experience with conceptualizing, planning, implementing and supporting digital strategy, eCommerce/channel strategy, and marketing practices and principles.
- Proficiency with digital analytic tools.
- Proven track record of managing data projects and leading data teams.
- Strong knowledge of industry best practices in data management and analysis.
- Experience with big data technologies and cloud platforms is a plus.
- Strong multitasking and prioritization abilities, with the ability to manage multiple requests while ensuring attention to detail and deadlines.
- Experience with data visualization tools like Tableau, Power BI, etc.
- Proficiency in data analysis tools and programming languages such as Python, R, SQL, etc.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office software (Word, PowerPoint, Excel).
- Proficient written and verbal communication skills.Ability to investigate, problem solve and make decisions efficiently.
- Excellent communication and presentation abilities.
- Strong understanding of data governance and data quality management principles.
- Ability to lead and mentor a team.
