Job Function and Locations

Jr Automation Controls Engineer will provide Controls related engineering support for 3 East Side Atlantic Plants. The job function is to learn the Corrugating, Converting, and Pre-Print equipment and to provide Technical Support for our 350 Midwest, 80 Progress, and Tiffield plants. This is a full-time day-position with the possibility of emergency support for our 24/5 operations. Base Office will be in 350 Midwest or TBD.

Main Job Function

  • Perform automation / electrical troubleshooting on electrical panels and control systems.
  • Work may require occasional extended hours to assist and support the troubleshooting of electrical equipment.
  • Technically Supporting Electricians / Controls Engineer when machine is down is top priority (24/5).

Ongoing Job Functions (80% of the time)

  • Ensure Engineering Controls / Electricians Laptops can connect to numerous devices (Drives, PLCs, HMIs) mainly Allen Bradely and Siemens PLC's, and Lenze / Siemens drives.
  • Maintaining Engineering Software (over 50 software packages) on Controls Engineering / Electricians Laptops.
  • Obtain missing files for assets from OEMs (Programs, IP addresses, Schematics, Parts Lists, Manuals,,, in electronic format)
  • Back-ups of; PLC and HMI programs, and Drive parameters.

Education Required

  • Electrical Controls Technologist, Engineer, or Electrician with 5 years Industrial / Manufacturing experience

Experience Required

  • Electrical Controls Technologist or Engineer must have at least 3 years of Industrial / Manufacturing experience preferably with Allen Bradley and Siemens PLCs, and HMIs.
  • Electrician with a minimum of 5 years of Industrial / Manufacturing experience preferably commissioning complex systems with Allen Bradley and Siemens PLCs and HMIs

Hardware and Software Experience

  • An ideal Electrical Controls Technologist / Engineer candidate has at least 3 years of hands-on programming of Allen Bradley and Siemens PLCs and HMIs, configuring Variable Frequency drives, and operating / configuring Robots.
  • Ability to read electrical / pneumatic drawings, PLC code, and Drive parameters.
  • Ability to perform programming / configuration of controllers (PLC's, Drives, Robots).
  • Knowledge of communication protocols Ethernet/IP, Profibus / Profinet is an asset.
  • Knowledge of industrial networking is an asset.

  • Hardware: SLC 500 Series, SLC 501, SLC 503, SLC 504, MICROLOGIX 1400, MICROLOGIX 1500, CompactLogix, GuardLogix
  • Software: RSLogix 500, RSLogix / Studio 5000
  • Communication: RSNetworx, RSLinx

PLCs (Siemens)

  • Hardware: SIMATIC S7-300, SIMATIC S7-400, SIMATIC S7-1200, SIMATIC S7-1500
  • Software: STEP 7-Micro/WIN, SIMATIC STEP 7 Professional (TIA Portal)
  • Communications: PROFIBUS DP, PROFINET

Drives

  • LENZE: 8200 / 9300 / 9400 / 8400 Drives
  • Allen Bradley: PowerFlex 4 / 40 / 500 / 750
  • Siemens: S120 / G120

Robot

  • GE Fanuc, Yaskawa, ABB.
