Mulgrave School teachers inspire students to achieve their personal best by providing a rich and engaging programme that develops students skills, promotes curiosity and love of learning, and prioritises well-being. We are now seeking applicants for the role of Senior School Vice-Principal, to start in August 2025.

Reporting to the Senior School Principal, the Vice Principal is a core member of the Senior School divisional leadership team and shares fully in the responsibility for academic and pastoral leadership and management of the division, at strategic and operational levels.

The Vice-Principal will be required to deputise for the Principal and to work with the Deputy Head and Assistant Heads of School at a strategic level. He or she will also directly support other divisional faculty, including mid-level leaders such as Curriculum Coordinators.

Duties and Responsibilities

Including but not limited to the following:

TEACHING, LEARNING & CURRICULUM

  • Oversee and proactively seek to continually improve teaching and learning in the Senior School. Maintain and develop the culture of reflective practitioners ensuring that our Learning & Teaching principles, professional growth cycles and looking for learning processes align around HITS and student outcomes.
  • Oversee the delivery of the academic programme in Grades 10-12
    • Support the Principal in ensuring high standards of teaching and learning, including performing faculty observations and supporting the individual growth plans of teachers and Curriculum Coordinators
  • Oversee and support the work of the Senior School Curriculum Coordinators to strengthen:
    • The learning of students across all subject areas
    • The quality and consistency of student feedback
    • The purposeful use of student data to inform teaching and student feedback
    • The understanding and implementation of the Mulgrave Principles of Teaching and Learning
    • The understanding and implementation of the Mulgrave High Impact Teaching Strategies to support our Principles of Teaching and Learning
  • Lead the process for G10 to G11 course planning and oversee all course changes and student groupings by subject
  • Work with the other Vice Principal of the Senior School to provide quality assurance for academic inclusion, students ability to achieve their personal best, and well-being in the classroom, through student and teacher focus groups, formal and informal faculty observations and systematic exposure of faculty and students to the best international practices
  • Work with the schools Data Manager to manage, analyse and share key assessment and student performance data in the Senior School, including data related to reported grades, predictions, and IB results

PASTORAL

  • Promote a strong, supportive student culture with a focus on the importance of balance, fun, engagement, inclusivity, and personal well-being
  • Promote a culture of respect and high standards for social interaction, personal conduct, attendance, and uniform standards
  • Provide mentoring, pastoral guidance and support to G10-G12 students and families as needed and in accordance with each students and familys needs
  • Liaise with the other Vice Principal of the Senior School to ensure that student course selections and student relationships with teachers are conducive to well-being and the pursuit of personal best
  • Liaise with the other Vice Principal of the Senior School, the Director of Student Well-Being, and the Character Education Coordinator to systematically monitor the extent to which the pastoral care structures in place in the Senior School are positively impacting student learning and academic achievement

OTHER

  • Contribute to the supervision and co-curricular schedule for the Senior School
  • Contribute to Senior School communications within the greater school community
  • Regularly plan and participate in Senior School special events, such as parent presentations and celebrations
  • Teach (approx. 40%) in accordance with the expectations specified by the Deputy Head/Senior School principal
  • Cultivate a strong sense of ownership of, and engagement in, the schools mission and values

Required Qualifications and Experience:

  • Must be a Canadian resident and legally entitled to work in Canada
  • Minimum of a Bachelors degree in Education, or the equivalent
  • 5+ years of school-based leadership experience
  • Current experience of the IB DP programme and BC Graduation requirements
  • Meet or be willing to obtain all requirements to be certified to teach in British Columbia
  • Have or be willing to obtain an age-appropriate First Aid Certificate
  • A track record of successful team leadership and management

Compensation

The base annual salary for this position is competitive and falls within the range of$90,000.00 - $135,000.00. The final salary offer will be determined based on the candidate's qualifications, and relevant experience in accordance with BC labour laws and company policies.
