Cleaver Brooks is looking for a Quality Engineering Specialist to join our team in Stratford, ON. The Quality Engineering Specialist plays a critical role in ensuring that Cleaver-Brooks products meet the highest quality standards. This position is responsible for supporting quality assurance processes, driving continuous improvement initiatives, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to resolve quality-related issues. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in quality systems, problem-solving, and manufacturing processes, with specific experience in industrial boiler manufacturing. The candidate will be active in the assessment process of new welders and will make recommendations to the hiring manager/supervisor.

Job Location: Stratford, ON

Essential functions

• Quality Assurance and Control:
  • Develop, implement, and maintain quality standards and procedures to ensure compliance with company and industry regulations.
  • Conduct inspections, audits, create Inspection and Test Plans, to verify conformance to specifications.
  • Maintain and update quality documentation, including control plans, and process flow diagrams.
  • Participate in and oversee ASME and ISO programs and audits
• Continuous Improvement:
  • Identify areas for process improvements and lead initiatives to enhance product quality and operational efficiency.
  • Analyze data from production and quality metrics to identify trends and implement corrective actions.
  • Collaborate with production teams to implement lean manufacturing principles and Six Sigma methodologies.
• Problem-Solving and Root Cause Analysis:
  • Investigate and resolve quality issues using root cause analysis tools such as 8D, 5-Why, and Fishbone diagrams.
  • Implement and participate in corrective and preventative actions (CAPA) to address quality concerns
• Supplier Quality Management:
  • Evaluate and monitor supplier performance to ensure compliance with quality standards.
  • Work with suppliers to resolve quality issues and drive improvements in their processes.
• Training and Development:
  • Provide training to employees on quality standards, tools, and techniques.
  • Foster a culture of quality awareness and continuous improvement across the organization.

Basic Requirements:

Education:

• Post-secondary education at an accredited college or university in Quality, Welding or Manufacturing.
• Certifications such as CQE (Certified Quality Engineer) or Six Sigma Green/Black Belt are preferred.
• CWB Level I/II is an asset
• CGSB /ASNTC NDE qualifications an asset
• Internal/Lead Auditor certifications an asset

Experience:

• Minimum of 3 years of experience in quality assurance or a related role within a manufacturing environment.
• Experience with quality systems such as ISO 9001 and ASME standards is highly desirable.
• Experience with ASME welding codes is required.
• Experience in industrial boiler manufacturing is strongly preferred

Skills:

• Strong knowledge of quality tools and methodologies, including SPC, FMEA, and control plans.
• Proficient in data analysis and statistical software (e.g., Excel).
• Familiarity in ERP software (IFS)
• Excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
• Attention to detail and a commitment to producing high-quality work.
