Transit Driver

PWTransit is currently seeking multiple casual Transit Drivers to join our team in Port Alberni and West Coast, BC. Drivers are responsible for safely transporting passengers on a daily basis and must be committed to providing superior customer service. Commitment, patience, maturity, and initiative are all required qualities.

Position Details:

  • Training rate - $26.62 per hour
  • Probationary rate - $31.07 per hour
  • Full rate: $31.32 per hour
  • Schedule- On-call

Position Requirements:

  • A valid class 1 or 2 driver's license, air brakes endorsement an asset
  • Class 4 unrestricted license also accepted
  • Driver's abstract with no more than 3 demerit points
  • Travel to West Coast is also required
  • Willingness to undergo drug and alcohol screening
  • Clear criminal record
  • Must be organized, punctual and reliable
  • Possess excellent driving skills and habits
  • Ability to read maps and navigate
  • Ability to communicate effectively
  • A good knowledge of the local area is a definite asset
  • Willing to work shifts, including split shifts, weekends and statutory holidays as necessary

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Safely transport passengers on a number of assigned routes
  • Manage passenger behavior by quickly and effectively solving problems
  • Drive safely and responsibly and be prepared for all road and traffic conditions
  • Provide superior customer service and assist with passenger questions/inquiries
