Position Summary:
The incumbent is responsible for assisting the children, youth, young adults, families, and community of Sandy Bay Ojibway First Nation with developing skills and acquire resources needed to enhance and improve social functioning. The incumbent will also provide counselling, therapy, and resources for social and community support services in an effort to achieve this goal.
Some Duties include:
- Regular client contact and case management.
- Ensuring proper reports and documentation are completed and submitted promptly.
- Report writing and case planning as may be required.
- Provide unit staff and supervisor with updates and reports as required.
- Build positive community and public relations.
- Plan assistive programs for clients.
- Act as an advocate for client groups within the community.
- Other duties shall be assigned as required.
Qualifications:
- B.S.W., B.A., or Child and Family Services Diploma and/or equivalent education in a related field of study.
- Registered with Manitoba College of Social Workers (MCSW) or eligible to be registered.
- Minimum of two years experience in child and family services and/or a related field of service.
- Knowledge of Acts and Legislation, that governs child welfare for Sandy Bay Child and Family Services Inc.
- Must have a valid Manitoba Drivers License, access to a vehicle and willing to travel. Will provide a current Drivers Abstract.
- Must pass Criminal Record Check, Vulnerable Sector Search, and Child Abuse Registry Check.
- Ability to speak and/or understand the Ojibway language would be an asset.
- Knowledge and respect of Sandy Bay Ojibway First Nations traditional culture and traditional philosophy.
