ENWIN Utilities Ltd., is currently accepting applications for the vacant position of
Temporary, Health & Safety Specialist(12 months)
Reporting to the Manager Health & Safety/Disability Management, the successful candidate will be responsible for providing expertise on health and safety related concerns, guides management staff on regulatory compliance and program development, investigating health and safety issues and concerns while administering an effective health and safety management system. The incumbent assists in the establishment of safety program goals, objectives, and KPI's; development of safety standards and work practices: implementing and maintaining performance and monitoring strategies for health and safety to reduce overall risk of injury or illness; reporting in various forums and formats on safety system performance and acts as the principle point of contact for the organization in dealing with safety related regulatory, licensing and inspecting agencies related to health and safety; administering and acting as a resource for all disability management related claims ensuring appropriate reporting and documentation including WSIB reports, managing the return to work process and work reintegration of employees; ensuring compliance with WSIB, AODA and OH&SA.
The successful applicant must possess the following qualifications:
- University degree or College Diploma in Health and Safety or combination of comparable education, utility sector skilled trade experience and Certified Health & Safety Consultant designation (or ability to obtain)
- Minimum of three (3) years health and safety and disability management experience.
- Comprehensive knowledge and application of health and safety legislation and regulations.
- Knowledge and experience with reporting requirements, standards, practices and administration.
- Knowledge with utility sector specific lock-out, tag out, confined space entry/rescue and fall arrest.
- Strong attention to detail, problem solving, and analytical skills.
- Ability to communicate effectively and collaborate with all internal and external stakeholders.
- Ability to effectively facilitate the collaboration of work teams.
- Demonstrated project planning skills, ability to prioritize and oversee several responsibilities concurrently.
- Advanced Microsoft Office skills (Word, Excel, and Powerpoint) and health and safety reporting software.
Salary Range for Qualified Candidates: $101,043 - $112,270.
