Summary:
The Civil Structural Engineering Department Manager oversees the strategic direction, development, and Management of the civil engineering team within the organization. This role requires a unique blend of technical knowledge, leadership qualities, and management skills to ensure the successful delivery of projects and the effective operation of the department.
Key Responsibilities
  • Responsible for the management of the Civil Structural Engineering department.
  • Hire, train, and mentor engineers and supporting staff.
  • Estimate engineering hours and manage civil scope for projects.
  • Ensure civil designs meet the requirements of both the client and Equinox.
  • Provide designs on a variety of project sizes ranging from well pads to large plants.
  • Ensure that projects are completed on time and within budget.
  • Ensure the quality and accuracy of deliverables.
  • Alignment with client expectations.
  • Coordinate with other disciplines and work closely with our international locations such as Houston, Australia and India.
  • Ability to create client specific technical scope documents, perform technical evaluations and complete contract documents.
  • Develop of civil department standards, procedures, and specifications.
  • Ensure proper distribution of project information to all project team members.
  • Keep abreast with latest technologies and materials including commitment to continuous improvement activities.
  • Coordinate staff remuneration, performance reviews and training.
  • Demonstrate commitment to the Health and Safety program.
  • Assist with business development and client relationships.

Key Skills:
  • Must possess strong communication, leadership and management skills.
  • Experience in managing civil engineering teams, including global workshare.
  • Effectively resolve interdisciplinary issues, or concerns that arise within a team environment.
  • Broad exposure to natural gas, conventional oil and heavy oil facility design and construction.
  • Civil and structural design experience of steel and concrete structures, piles and earthworks.
  • Foundation design and analysis.
  • Proficiency with Structural software RISA 3D, Dyna 6 or equivalent.
  • Strong background with construction industry codes and standards for Oil and Gas Facilities.
  • Solid background in international structural codes and standards with emphasis on North American and Australian codes.

Education and Qualifications
Registered Professional Engineer (P. Eng.) in Canada
Bachelor's degree in civil engineering with specialization in Structures
Minimum 20+ year's oil and gas experience (with EPCM background).
