Position Summary

ANEW Centre for Healing is seeking a reliable and self-motivated Casual Maintenance Person to perform general maintenance tasks across multiple location. The successful candidate will help maintain the safety, cleanliness, and functionality of our facilities, ensuring a comfortable and welcoming environment for our clients and staff.

Key Responsibilities

  • Performing painting and touch-ups to maintain the appearance of walls, doors, and other surfaces;
  • Conduct general repairs, including minor plumbing, carpentry and basic electrical fixes;
  • Carry out yard cleanup and maintenance, including mowing, weeding, snow removal and general landscaping;
  • Maintain wall care, including patching holes, repairing drywall, and ensuring overall upkeep;
  • Assist with garage organization, including sorting and storing tools, supplies, and equipment;
  • Ensure work areas are clean, organized, and free of hazards;
  • Report any major maintenance concerns to the appropriate supervisor;
  • Follow workplace safety protocols and ensure compliance with organizational policies;
  • Support the upkeep of culturally significant spaces, ensuring the remain well-maintained and respected.

Qualifications & Skills

  • Previous experience in maintenance, repairs, or a related field is an asset;
  • Knowledge of basic hand and power tools;
  • Ability to work independently and manage time effectively;
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail;
  • Ability to lift and move heavy objects as needed;
  • Valid drivers license and reliable transportation to travel between locations;
  • Understanding and respect for culturally based approaches to healing and community care is an asset;
  • A current Police Information check with Vulnerable Sector, within the last 6 months;
  • A current Child Intervention Record Check, within the last 6 months;

Work Conditions

  • Casual, on-call basis depending on organizational needs;
  • Work will take place at multiple locations, both indoors and outdoors;
  • May involve physical labour, exposure to weather conditions, and lifting heavy materials.
