About This Role
We are seeking a Content Development Specialist with expertise in content strategy and copywriting to support a high-impact digital modernization project for government services. This role is critical in developing and maintaining content strategies for complex information architectures, improving service clarity, and managing enterprise-level copy across digital platforms. You will work closely with UX designers, product teams, and developers to craft clear, accessible, and effective content for government services.

Work Eligibility & Location
This role requires candidates to be located in Canada and eligible to work in Canada. While we are fully remote and offer flexibility in working hours, there will be times when availability during 7:30am-3:30pm PST / 8:30am-4:30pm MST / 10:30am-6:30pm EST is required to align with team collaboration and project needs.
What youll do
- Develop and implement content and content strategies for government digital services, ensuring clarity, consistency, and accessibility across all content.
- Write and refine content for enterprise websites, web applications, and service platforms, aligning with user needs and service goals.
- Create and manage structured content models that work within enterprise content management systems (CMS).
- Ensure content governance and workflow processes to maintain content quality, versioning, and compliance with government standards.
- Collaborate with UX designers and product teams to integrate content seamlessly into user experiences.
- Design and maintain content taxonomies, metadata, and tagging structures to support findability and searchability.
- Audit, analyze, and optimize existing content based on user research, analytics, and best practices.
- Develop reusable content templates and modular content approaches to improve efficiency and scalability.
- Ensure compliance with accessibility standards (WCAG 2.1+) and plain language principles.
- Work collaboratively in Agile teams, participating in sprints, iterative content development processes and project activities including usability testing.
- Work within a design system to ensure consistency in design and user experience.
What youll bring
- 5+ years of experience in content strategy, copywriting, or content development, ideally within government or enterprise environments.
- Experience developing and managing content strategies for large-scale digital platforms.
- Expertise in structured content, content modeling, and CMS-driven content management systems.
- Strong copywriting and content design skills, with a focus on clarity, accessibility, and user needs.
- Knowledge of information architecture principles, metadata strategies, and structured content frameworks.
- Understanding of accessibility (WCAG 2.1+), usability, and plain language best practices.
- Experience delivering exceptional user experiences in multi disciplinary teams that apply UX design, service design, design thinking, or human-centered design approaches.
- Ability to collaborate in a cross-functional space across design, product and development teams, and non-technical stakeholder groups.
- Experience with content audits, gap analysis, and content performance measurement using analytics tools.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to translate complex information into simple, user-friendly content.
- Experience working in Agile environments, participating in sprint cycles and iterative content development.
