About the Role:
The Trauma program nurtures connection and safety in the caregiver-child relationship after experiencing trauma. Children and youth may come into the program via one of three streams: the Outpatient Trauma Clinic, the Trauma and Attachment Group (TAG) or Consultative Services. This position supports staff in both Calgary and Edmonton.
The Program Supervisor will:
- Collaborate with the Clinical Manager to coordinate staff recruitment.
- Lead clinical and program orientation for new hires.
- Observe new hires and provide recommendations and consultation to the Clinical Manager regarding support and skill development needs.
- Provide clinical supervision, mentorship and professional development for program staff.
- Support Clinical Manager in building clinical competency assessment, development and maintenance for practice areas.
- Implement and oversee skill development and training plans for new staff.
- Review and approve clinical referrals based on program eligibility criteria, escalating exceptional cases to the Clinical Manager for final review.
- Facilitate and lead clinical groups and initiatives, such as group therapy and reflective teams.
- Inform Clinical Manager of ongoing clinical supervision needs by providing input and recommendations on specific clinical practice challenges or strengths for program staff.
- Provide in-the-moment coaching, role modelling and direction to staff.
Qualifications
- Master's degree in psychology, social work, occupational therapy or nursing.
- Active registration in good standing with professional college identified under the Health Professions Act.
- A minimum of five years of clinical practice in child and family mental health and/or youth addictions.
- Valid Class 5 driver's license and access to vehicle for travel between CASA sites.
- Experience in clinical supervision is an asset.
- Knowledge of child and adolescent development and the impact of trauma and mental illness on children's development, health and well-being.
- Training and experience in sensory and somatic modalities, bilateral simulation-based trauma processing and attachment focussed play-based interventions.
- Proven leadership abilities with excellent organizational, interpersonal and communication skills.
- Demonstrated commitment to excellence in all aspects of the discipline including clinical practice, supervision and education.
- Experience in program design, knowledge translation and evaluation is an asset.
Conditions of Employment
- A satisfactory Criminal Records Check with Vulnerable Sector Search and Child Intervention Check. This would be the financial responsibility of the successful candidate.
- Ability to pass and maintain Therapeutic Crisis Intervention (TCI) certification (training provided by CASA), as well as physical ability to perform all interventions.
