Opportunity Overview
We are seeking a strategic and results-driven Director, Finance to lead our financial operations at Cando Rail & Terminals. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing financial reporting and planning, risk management, and financial controls while driving technological advancements. This position reports to the AVP, Finance and requires a CPA designation and a strong background in leadership, with at least 10 years of experience, including experience in an operational role.
Key Responsibilities:
- Financial Leadership & Strategy
- Oversee the financial planning cycle, including budgeting and forecasting processes
- Oversee the accounting operations cycles, including the order-to-cash and procure-to-pay cycles
- Give strategic recommendations to finance leadership and the executive team
- Present financial results to senior management, providing insights into key variances and operational outputs
- Lead corporate insurance programs, ensuring adequate coverage for assets, liabilities, and operations
- Maintain and administer financial policies and controls
- Identify and mitigate financial and operational risks through proactive strategies
- Ensure compliance with all financial regulations and reporting standards
- Team Leadership & Development
- Manage and mentor a team of finance professionals, ensuring high performance and continuous development
- Develop, recruit and hire team members to meet the needs of a growing company
- Foster a culture of collaboration, accountability, and innovation
- Process Improvement & Technology Advancement
- Drive the modernization of financial systems and reporting tools, leveraging automation and data analytics
- Enhance efficiency in financial workflows, including budgeting, invoicing, and reporting
Qualifications & Experience
- CPA designation is required
- 10+ years of progressive finance experience
- Proven leadership experience managing and developing finance teams
- Strong knowledge of financial planning and reporting, risk management, and experience implementing technological solutions
- Excellent communication and strategic thinking skills with the ability to influence key stakeholders
