Reporting to the Production Supervisor, the Coater Operator is responsible for overseeing all aspects of coating the tape. Monitor all drives, the weight of the adhesive, and the heat of the ovens. Also, to take the finished product off the machine

Primary Duties and Responsibilities
  • Oversee the operation of all coaters.
  • Ensure proper materials are at the machine using job aids (e.g., forklift, pump truck).
  • Set up machines (calibration, cleaning) to start production cycles.
  • Mark, record, and report defective products; complete daily process reports and activity logs.
  • Perform machine changeovers and troubleshoot minor repairs (e.g., changing shafts and blades).
  • Control and adjust machine settings (e.g., speed, temperature).
  • Inspect finished products with precision tools.
  • Test machine operations periodically.
  • Collaborate with Machine Tender and/or Lead Hands to meet production schedules, safety, efficiency, and quality standards.
  • Assist Machine Tender with Coater #5 to maintain operations.
  • Operate and maintain forklifts, including performing circle checks and changing batteries.
  • Maintain a clean work area between tasks and at the end of the day.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies for cost control, waste reduction, quality, safety, and timely delivery.
  • Follow manufacturing and processing procedures; carry out production and inspection processes.
  • Identify and communicate quality issues with relevant personnel.
  • Ensure proper use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) at all times.
  • Work safely around machinery.
  • Clean racking and other plant areas.
  • Perform cycle counts.
  • Train other employees.
  • Additional duties as required.
Work Conditions
  • Must work a rotating flexible schedule, including days, evenings, overnights, and weekends.
  • Ability to perform repetitive and heavy lifting (up to 55 pounds).
  • Must read, write, and understand printed material.
  • Use required PPE.
  • Work in a fast-paced environment with high attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Extended periods of standing and other physically demanding conditions.
  • Ability to lift, move, or manipulate objects.
  • Consistent attendance required.
Qualifications and Skills
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum of 3 years in manufacturing (an asset).
  • Must obtain and maintain a forklift license.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team.
  • Safe and responsible operation of equipment.
  • Good understanding of production procedures.
  • Adherence to health and safety regulations.
  • Ability to read work instructions and machine setup manuals.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to lift heavy objects, walk, and stand for long periods.
  • Ability to prioritize and manage conflicting demands.
  • Strong technical, analytical, and troubleshooting skills.
